Has anyone got any stats on Timeform's selection profitability for all UK Ireland races? Or know where I can access it? I have started to collect some, but it is really hard work!!! regards, Dave

If you back all the timeform top rated selection you will be skint pretty quickly,however if you back the two top rated selections you will be skint in half that time.

Perhaps, or  much rather - The OP may well mean the,  "Timeform Selection," from the Timeform Summary underneath the MARKETS, here on Betfair.

Whether those 1.2.3 'Selections' are IDENTICAL to the 'Top-Rated' on Timeform RACECARDS/Passes being open to discussion/confirmation.

I doubt it - as anybody purchasing the Timeform Cards - solely for the Ratings (Order) Happy would be pretty miffed - and it would also be poor marketing by Timeform, too.

@onlooker: Confirmed as you suggest - the TF 1-2-3 are absolutely *not* the 3 top-rated horses in rating order.  Speaking as someone who buys the (online) Race Passes pretty much solely for the ratings.

Does seem a bit smoke & mirrors if there top 3 rated on BF are not there top 3 in order
The 3 highlighted under BF tips & previews are the top rated number 1 under BF racecard

As looky says - other viewers would be pretty miffed also if they were putting up others as top rated

@madhatters wouldn't make sense for the 3 top-rated to be the 1-2-3

- they might be running at sub-optimal distance
- they might be running on sub-optimal going
- they might be out repeatedly with short breaks

Not sure I understand what you mean by this:

"The 3 highlighted under BF tips & previews are the top rated number 1 under BF racecard"

You would think that TF would have calculated all those points into a top 3
Look on the exchange toolbar next to tradefair & they give their 3 best bets for the day
They equate to the top in each race on BF racecard

& no they ain't profitable to follow Grin

@madhatters

I'd expect them to calculate them into the 1-2-3

I'd not expect them to calculate them into a horse's ratings (any more than they are included in the OR or the RP rating) so the 1-2-3 won't necessarily map to the top-3 rated.

Why not list them alphabetically then or by colour
What is the point of putting a top 3 up Laugh

Whether you believe they are "ratings" or not
They are put up as TF top rated 1,2,3

They are put up as a "Timeform 1-2-3", not a "Timeform top-rated 1-2-3".

They are (I infer from context) intended to be the three horses most likely to win the race.

Looking at the link you mention makes this clear I think:  the betting.betfair article for the 5.15 at Yarmouth tomorrow reads

"Timeform Top Rated:
108p 3. BARTHOLOMEU DIAS Charles Hills William Buick
93 2. BARFORD Pam Sly Rob Hornby
84p 1. THE LAST EMPEROR Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni

Analyst's Verdict:
It's hard to look beyond Bartholomeu Dias, who followed his promising debut effort with an even better performance at Royal Ascot where he was fourth in the 15-runner Chesham Stakes. The Last Emperor made a winning debut over this C&D 3 weeks ago, but has more on his plate under a penalty so bigger threats could be posed by newcomer Il Primo Sole and Barford."

Whereas the Timeform 1-2-3 shown on the main BF site (with the same commentary) are:

Bartholomeu Dias

Il Primo Sole

Barford (IRE)
