is there a link anywhere of the trainer being interveiwed  ,, i saw it ,, he was going on about the winner being only a 2 grand horse ,big grin on his face ,, NOT NOW

What are betfair doing about this? I bet the 3rd to be in first two.... surely I should either be paid out or have my stakes refunded. Can't believe this can be allowed to go with no recourse..... ????

Ima - See my post at 17.42.   Same as today wwill be and same as Young Master.  Disqualify the winner and promote the second. Weighed in has nothing to do with it.

Must be one of the most obvious sutuations for voiding all bets there has ever been. That was my biggest bet of the day - the 2nd favourite to be in 1st two - it was a head away too just to rub salt in.

Absolutely agree Barton.  If it had been found to have carried the wrong weight instead of being born in the wrong year, it would have been disqualified straight away.

Im mot sure what difference is given the circumstances of what happened in the race.
What people were betting on was different to what actually occurred

BF exchange always pays out based on the weigh-in.

If that's too much to take then don't play - quite simple really.

I think the circumstances regarding this particular case make even that point not logical.
The correct horse didnt run.

If someone has written out Millie’s Kiss (the horse that ran instead) on a slip but didn't put any meeting or time, I very much doubt the bookies would pay out because it "won" and surely as a 3YO running in a 2YO race it has to be thrown out.....Even if just for carrying the wrong weight.

Plus I've seen jockeys hitting the front too early but never by an hour-and-a-half!

They say it was a mistake , but how has that horse run if it was deemed a NR in a later race - what was the reason for it being a NR ?- all of this needs sorting out - there are just too many grey areas in uk racing - they talk about integrity in uk horseracing - its fcukin does have any.

They say it was an honest mistake.....but the trainer should get a fine or be banned imo - if he is that irresponsible to not put the right horse on the track then the BHA should be questioning his professionalism.

It was declared a NR in the 3.15 once they realised it had run in the 1.40 race.

But agree about the trainer getting banned.  Backers of the favourite on track and on here have done their nuts.  Not to mention layers of the "winner".

and he will definitely be fined, and probably heavily.  Unlikely to be banned unless they discover something more untoward than a serious error.

Astounding that the rules of racing do not allow for the result to be overturned on the day, be that through either the voiding of the race (which is the way it should be, IMHO - and I wasn't involved financially) or the disqualification of the FPTP.

We all know the rules in football about the referee's decision being final too but there will still be uproars each time a "phantom goal" is allowed or disallowed.

Latalomne - I agree with you, and I said as much earlier on in response to Barton.  On thinking about it a little more and checking the rules, I think the issue here is that there is a clear requirement for a break point where Stewards no longer have any jurisdiction on the race, and any subsequent problem must go to "head office".  For right or wrong, this break point under the rules is "weighed in".

Charlie Mann has sent the wrong horse to the races three times and still has a license. On the third occasion, the horse that ran in the wrong name actually died.

The was once in a race at Southwell a horse that won a race when mistaken for another the difference was the (fr)
after the name I think, it may have been China Castle or French Castle or similar name, the Trainer realised the
mistake and took advantage with a large gamble can't remember whether it weighed in but the trainer was never

I backed 'Millie's Kiss' in the 3.15 the night before! Easily understand how the trainer/handler mixed the two up - I mean both horses have 4 legs each for ****'s sake!

They say it is the first time it has happened since microchips were introduced in 1999. My solution would be to check all horses that would involve prize money or bets after the race and before the weigh in announcement. It is sad but inevitable that racing gets more publicity in the general media when this happens than after the Derby. The **** up in Ireland is equally bizarre in that the Turf Club are not contesting the appeal about Stars over the Sea!

It is vaguely surprising none of the other trainers or jockeys raised an eyebrow. Is Millie's Kiss particularly small and easily mistaken for a 2-year-old?

What really astounds me is the BHA statement that they will look into the procedures and try to determine what steps need

to be taken to prevent it from happening again.

I don't know what kind of salaries these buffoons are on but I will give them some free advice:

Stand the man with the scanning device at the entrance to the saddling enclosure.Man scans,checks his list,if all in order

If the BHA was operating airport security they would no doubt scan people as they entered the parking lot and not on their

I can sort of see how the wrong horse could go to post, but how did the trainers and connections not see it was the wrong horse when it came back to the winners enclosure? Do you think they decided to stay stum & not say anything & hope it wasn't routinely doped tested? That seems the strange part of it all to me and where questions should be asked.

When I had horses they were scanned in the parade ring before the race to check their IDs. When did that stop?

Also I always recognised my horses even in the pre parade ring without number cloths or colours so how the hell did none of those owners notice that it wasn't their horse that had just entered the parade ring ?

It's accepted that it's the trainer's responsibility but the BHA should also fine themselves as they are ultimately responsible for the integrity of racing.

been talking to a yarmouth tatts bookmaker at york tonight . he says he laid the "winner" six times two £2.50 each ways and four £5 win bets..he told me all tatts bookmakers had laid it well but no bets bigger than £5.
it seems some were in the know before the off but showed patience to have lots of small bets , therefore not arousing suspicion.
100 bets at just a fiver, all at 50/1 and 66/1 nets a tidy sum...

The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Veterinary Officer that CANDLELIGHT STORY, trained by Jennie Candlish, could not be identified from its passport and therefore the mare could not run. They interviewed the trainer’s representative and the Veterinary Officer. Having heard their evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.

If fairness, nobody really looks like their passport photo.

The Adge post is certainly worth further investigation from a BHA perspective. It does seem odd that no one involved with the horse noticed it was the wrong horse before or after the race. They should be asking the bookmakers on track how the betting compares to other maiden races and outsiders at the track (and other smallish meetings). It does seem unusual that every book in tatts had laid the horse but maybe there was a bigger crowd on course than i would imagine. How many bookmakers that day?
The off course firms should also be asked obviously. Maybe this was a complete 'accident' but a full investigation is required.

Maybe horses look at humans and say to themselves - 'they all look exactly the same -they've all got 2 legs haven't they!'

all the course bookmakers have full computer records which are very easy to read should the BHA or anyone else wish to see them
