they were 1 - 4 this morning but I also saw 1 - 5 when I looked about 10 mins before the off. I have seen them change the place terms during the day and I believe they normally pay that extra place for day of race bets.

surely tells you on your bet receipt

I think on 356 they do say 4 places evening before and during the day. There is a separate box, enhanced place which is 5 places.
But when they take the prices from the course (rather than the best odds from various bookies) they then change it to the extra place. |

extra places as standard is therefore only when prices come from course (10 mins or so before the off)

I've been wondering about this for a while...it seems that around Royal Ascot time, £3.65 started to offer an extra place (usually on a competitive TV race) in the preceding 30 minutes or so before the off, but as yet, I haven't managed to squeeze one of my selections into that particular extra slot, so I'm still in the dark as to how bets placed before the altered frame terms would be settled if put on prior to the change.
I think this is an excellent concession which with my betting strategies (getting big-priced nags in the frame in multiple bets) could really help out in future, but I'd be furious if they decided to pull the rug and grease their way out of their stated terms to avoid paying out. I backed Piper's Note at 20/1 in the Great St Wilfred a couple of years ago and he finished 5th in a very tight 4-way photo for the places - I was gutted to be relieved of £470+ as I had just assumed they were paying the extra place, which they had been doing every single week on the big-field Saturday handicap...except for some unknown reason this particular race - my complaint just fell on deaf ears. I also had Blakeney Point 25/1 & Desert Encounter 66/1 placed in an E/W L15 last weekend...that's like having 6/1 & 16/1 winners, so a third selection sneaking the frame would've meant a bumper payout but alas, it didn't happen. Being in no-man's land on this policy, I'm waiting for the inevitable to happen...and to get ransacked, as I fear the improved place terms will only apply AFTER the change. |

so its an excellent concession but you place a bet and dont check either when you place the bet or before the race on your receipt, on the places you are on and because your horse finishes 5th, you have a go at them.
you couldnae make it up imho |

By:
these concessions are drying up as we speak, all the firms will be no concessions and mugs only soon

The Dealer - it was a slightly off-topic remark to emphasise the importance of the extra places they offer and I maintain there are some excellent concessions which I've profited from many times.
That instance was nearly 3 years ago (before the recent innovation to add an extra place in the preceding 30 minutes to the off-time) and it taught me a big lesson...to double check, and not just assume - you don't EXPECT to have the fifth horse in a race...it's an after-thought. That pulled the wool over my eyes, as if memory serves, even bums like Baldy & Chandler were going a fifth place on that big Saturday sprint and I was gutted to be ransacked like that - as much as I didn't like it and I hate to admit it, it was MY fault and you're right! PS - you seem to know a few things...so can you enlighten us all on the original question Roger asked? |

i would never claim to know anything although i cant see where my post would say i do, i was merely giving an opinion on your post. if there is something in the post that is wrong, i will gladly apologise.
with regards to the OP i have already said his place terms would surely be available on his bet history. |

i cant see anything wrong with the concession and how they apply it. at least unlike Hills they dont seem to alter normal place terms when giving an extra place. i would also say the races they pick is entirely up to them and not a race people think or assume they should pick.

Here was the response to my query last Saturday - Tawdeea being my bet in 5th place Thank you for your Web Message regarding the 3.15 at Haydock. I can confirm that this race was offered with enhanced place terms To take advantage of the Enhanced Place markets all you need to do is select the ‘Enhanced’ tab on the race card, this will then present you with the odds for each horse reflective of an extra place being paid, you can review the place terms at which your bet was placed at the top of the race card and on the ‘E/W Terms’ on your bet slip. Unfortunately this selection was not taken from the enhance place terns coupon. Our rules can be located by going to Services and clicking on Help. This will open our Help section in a separate window from which you should select Rules. You can then choose the required sports from the menu listed on the left hand side. If you have any further queries, we may ask you to confirm your username and four-digit security number. If you are unable to recall your four-digit security number, scroll to the bottom of the bet365 website, select bet365 FAQ and refer to What if I forget my four-digit security number.
