Im attending Cartmel races Sunday and doing the camping thing and Ive never been before. The plan is to get the car into the middle of the course as early as possible Sunday morning and was wondering where the best place to set up and watch the racing is? Also is it worth upgrading into the paddock (camping package only lets you into course area)? We're not particularly bothered about seeing the horses in the parade ring as its more of a social thing - bbq, have a few beers and bets etc.- pressumably you can have a bet in that area?
Anyway, any tips, advice etc. from seasoned "Cartmellers" most welcome.
You'll find a lot of the slots in middle will be gone - especially with thr concert on Friday.
Usually the camping will be in one of the areas to the side of the course - you then use your badge to get into course (course area)
Only worth upgrading if you want to use the stand (to see couple of jumps&run in) plus paddock itself - if your there for jolly then not really worth it - there is a Betfred in middle of the course now plus several bookies in middle of the course - there has been more added each year to centre area where you are.
You'll be fine for beers/bet in middle.
If you need anything else just reply.

Cheers. Thnx for reply. Was thinking of parking car as close to run-in as possible. Looking at race replays theres some sort of rails/fence to stop cars getting too close to the front. Also see theres a big screen too so should be okay for views of some sort. Btw have you ever bothered with the £24 bbq pack? Probably worth getting if its half decent local produce but not if its repackaged Lidls fodder

Think its only camper/caravans in the middle of the course and these are by the running rail near the toilet/wash block, tents are by the car park on the outside of the course, there is a map on the cartmel racecourse website. I'm there tomorrow as the wife has got us tickets for the concert. Far more interested in the racing!
