i need to work out a ROI for the following two scenarios , think i have it but just want to make sure i am doing it right
SCENARIO A
i have a bank of £1000.00 one thousand pounds, i bet £10.00 per selection, i have made a total of 74 selections 44 selections win giving a return of £803.90 30 lose giving a loss of 300.00
the profit is a whopping £63.90 (no laughing at least its not a loss)
now i think ROI is profit / total staked (then multiply by 10 to get a percentage) so......
profit £63.90 / total stake £740.00 = 0.0863513 multiply by 100 to percentage = 8.63512%
so 8.65% is ROI ???????????? am i correct please
SCENARIO B
i have a bank of £1000.00 one thousand pounds, i bet £10.00 per selection, i have made a total of 40 selections 25 selections win giving a return of £444.50 15 lose giving a loss of 150.00
the profit is a whopping £44.50 (no laughing! at least its not a loss)
now i think ROI is profit / total staked (then multiply by 10 to get a percentage) so......
profit £44.50 / total stake £400.00 = 0.11125 multiply by 100 to percentage = 11.125
so 11.125 % s ROI ???????????? am i correct please?
Thanks in advance, hopefully someone can confirm i am calculating ROI correctly ?
Afternoon striding, all well thanks, hope it is the same for you....am enjoying what appears to be our one week of summer, five good dry days in a row, almost unheard of here in May, leads me to believe Jun/Jul/Aug won't be much cop, roll on September...!

ROI is a term that has been adopted in the way that you describe but I would say technically it is not correct in that what you describe is a return on TURNOVER. ROI% would your profit divided by your bank * 100
Having said that it seems that ROI has been adopted in racing parlour in the way you define it so carry on with that definition although when comparing it with say putting it in the bank you are comparing chalk with cheese as the betting bank as a divisor would be the correct option

Nope. ROI is what it says - return on investment. Your stake is your outlay( investment), it's what is there to be potentially lost every time you bet.

ROI is as Facts says. Not everybody uses a betting bank.
However, a better guide to the success of a tipster/bettor is what I call profit over time.
Someone might have a ROI of 50%, but only bets 5 times a year, but someone with a ROI of 10% bets 100 times a year.
You don't have to be a mathematician to realise that the guy with 10% ROI would make more profit over the year.
