He's usually such a reliable jockey but that was diabolical- almost as though he went to sleep from the 2 furlong pole to 100 yards out.
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 3:05 PM BST
It just looked like he was sat there expecting to have to do nothing to win?! Even the slightest bit of allegory and he would have won!!
Report guinness2dear May 5, 2017 3:06 PM BST
Put his stick down twice in the last 100 yards besides swithing it and then not using it. How come the greengrocers never spotted that...
Report bilbobaggins May 5, 2017 3:07 PM BST
Unfortunately I have to put him on my **** list.
Report spursboy May 5, 2017 3:10 PM BST

Another big priced unlucky loser fannyjack?
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 3:59 PM BST
In fairness I didn't see this race but i'm assuming it must have been a bad ride as you have dildo, easybore and some giffer who thinks Hamdom al makotoum is an owner backing you up.

lol
Report guinness2dear May 5, 2017 4:10 PM BST
I'm offended to be left out..
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 4:15 PM BST
Did you have an opinion?! No as always lol
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 4:18 PM BST
I have the same opinion as you, all jockeys are rubbish and are the reason i lose money instead of winning fortunes. You forgot yer smiley face btw mrs.
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 4:19 PM BST
Sorry forgot my lol........lol.
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 4:20 PM BST
lol Excited
Report BigField May 5, 2017 4:34 PM BST
nonay though you may be correct on the whole, at least watch the race first and don't jump to conclusions, it genuinely was a poor ride
Report BigField May 5, 2017 4:35 PM BST
though everyone is entitled to their own opinion as to what's a good ride and what isn't....it's a game of opinions after all.
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 4:37 PM BST
I was in fact telling fibs, i did see it and thought the best horse won and as you say i'm entitled to my opinion.
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 4:41 PM BST
When a fav travels well, is the last horse off the bridle and doesn't win, it irks if you've backed it i agree, but I couldn't see that the jockey made any massive errors and it's conjecture to assume it would have won if he'd asked for more effort any earlier.

How's that for some opinions Jackster.
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 4:42 PM BST
A crap one biggayfever
Report BigField May 5, 2017 4:44 PM BST
that's a fair way of reading the race nonay, the jockey had every right to be confident in the horse as it was travelling very well, if hannagan had bet his own money on the horse I have a feeling he'd have been asking it to go on and win the race much earlier, though.

I can understand why he rode the way he did in the race, I just think, from a punters perspective, you want to see your jockey take no chances.
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 4:46 PM BST
...and finally Bigfield as you seem a decent bloke, none of my "argumentative" comments on Jacks or the other persistent jockey basher threads are because of the ride highlighted in the thread, it's just to remind them that bad rides are part of the game, if you want a whinge about them from time to time there's nothing at all wrong with that. If however you feel the need to blame it consistently then you're only fooling yourself and just become a boring sad loser.

Hope you have some winners today buddy.
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 4:52 PM BST
It's the old Harchibald debate Bigfield, sometimes horses just don't find off the bridle and make the jockey look silly. There was a race at one of the irish meetings last night when a fav cruised into contention, was kicked on a good 2f out, went clear and got repassed by one it had cruised by. It's not black and white by any means when to ask a horse for it's effort. Imo of course Jack.
Report BigField May 5, 2017 5:01 PM BST
Yeah it does my head in too all the jockey blaming on here, I don't like doing it myself as we have to take losing on the chin, no point betting if we can't accept defeat - helps us to improve our betting too when we see our wrongdoings and learn from them.
Indeed it is incredibly frustrating when a horse appears to go backwards when a jockey gets serious on it, I guess some (like humans) are stubborn and simply won't try as hard just because they're being told to do so.....obviously that's not always the case but I believe it sometimes is.

Hope you're successful in your betting this weekend too mate and good luck to you! Always up for a good debate on here, it's a shame not everyones as reasonable as yourself!
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 5:14 PM BST
TBF I do agree with you on the Harchibald point....
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 5:19 PM BST
That's very big of you to say Granit. Btw if you want to put me down in future by changing my name (your's was bit weak tbh, NoLayEver was one of the better ones i was once called.

Hope you have some winners too.

Actually can I ask you a serious question? What's your best bet of the day tomorrow? Any meeting you like? Just interested...
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 5:38 PM BST
I can assure you Jack you wouldn't get rich following me and there's nothing that stands out tomorrow of any value. I would say the fav in the first at Newmarket who impressed me last time and at 3/1 on here is fair value.

Don't blame me if Moore **** up on it!!!
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 5:42 PM BST
Ha ha don't worry I won't!! No just wondered. I know you don't like the whole jockey slating thing...but does the pilot ever bother you when you're backing out of interest? I must admit there's a couple I try and avoid but still get sucked in sometimes...
Report Nonaynever May 5, 2017 5:56 PM BST
I can honestly say the last thing i take into account if I fancy one is the jockey. That's not to say that I don't understand, or agree, that some are better than others and everyone has their favourites and the ones they're not keen on. My take on it, as i've said before is that although the jockey can and does make the difference between winning and losing on occasions, the best horse will win more often than not.

It's swings and roundabouts, i'm sure i've had loads of winners over the years because horses in behind have received poor rides so my philosophy is take it on the chin and move on.

The only thing  I cannot accept is blatant c heating and i'm 100% sure that the advent of the exchanges has made this far worse. Having said that, i know it goes on, i still choose to bet on the sport, so i've only got myself to blame if i get caught out, but it still irks me.

One question to you then, then i'll get on. Do you watch any American racing and what do you think the forum would make of some of their jockeys if they rode over here (their top ones excepted)?
Report granitjack May 5, 2017 6:12 PM BST
You're right the exchanges has made it a million times worse...and likewise despite me liking a rant it's my choice to have a dabble and my own fault if I lose.
I try and avoid the American racing tbh mainly because the standard of jockeyship, other than the top ones of course, is p**s poor to say the very least.
After hearing your last couple of points I can see more where you're coming from tbf. Good luck tomorrow anyway and I also like the one you mentioned in the first. Gotta give you just one last smiley face though lol Excited
