I was thinking that a lot of horses are remembered not for what races they won or lost but for their name.
for example
1 The Drunken Duck
2 Manchesterskytrain
3 Durham edition
4 Night Nurse
Can you remember some of those famous names.

Im sure Night Nurse will be remembered for his racecourse performances more than his name.
I think his name (night nurse) was called after a medicine used to cure a cold.
but I agree night nurse was up there with the greats of the time.=Birds Nest,Beacon Light,The Dickler,Sea pigeon.

Horse called Tsipura from the 70's. Wouldn't have got away with it spelt the other way around.

Also, US owner Mike Pegram, who owned KY Derby winner Real Quiet, had a cracking sense of humour. He tried to name a horse My Dixie Normas (say it aloud) but the US Jockey Club got wise and blocked it.
Back in the 1980s Toby Balding's wife had a mare named Cleavage, by Hillandale out of Divided. She said her ambition was one day to hear a commentator call Mrs Balding's Cleavage out in front.

how about , ubedizzy, talented but agressive horse that attacked other horses during races and stable staff regularly, one stable lad lost a finger to a ubedizzy bite
