My bet was laid just after the off when he was about 8; I could see the odds fluctuating, then suddenly hit 5, then 4 and below 3 yet my bet was not matched. I do not know what I've done wrong unless there was a glitch in Betfair's system during in-running.

Horse withdrawn at the start, seem to recall that affects IR betting. ------------
Entirely the OPPOSITE - actually.
'In-Running' (Prices) a completely SEPARATE Market - with NO Reduction Factor applied.

In fact - What was probably at the back of your mind is that there would have been an 8% Reduction Factor (Diakali - withdrawn at the start) to the 5.0 LAY bet - had it been a 'KEEP' Lay. ------------- However - the OP has stated that ....

My bet was laid just after the off -
So, his LAY would have been at the FULL 5.0 odds - as it was placed AFTER the OFF - directly into the SEPARATE 'In-Running' (Prices) market.

Thanks for all your answers. However, I'm still baffled as I play in-running fairly often. But thankfully, it was only a small bet and only the 2nd time it had happened. I think I'd just put it down to a computer glitch my end or Betfair.

For some reason this race was turned in play very early, well before they were off. Presumably a betfair error. When it then took an age for them to actually start due to the withdrawn horse they had switched it back to not in play before putting it back in play again. I would guess that you put the lay on when they first turned it in play and then when they changed their minds as they realised it wasn't yet in play your bet was cancelled.

asparagus Thanks, that is very plausible. I'm no techie, but I knew something was incorrect when my lay bet was not executed despite its target price had been hit. As it was only a small bet to recoup outlay I shall put it down to factors outside my control. Thanks all for your replies.

Take it up with BF - your bet placement should be recorded as should the fact you didn't cancel it, and the in-running low price is a matter of public record.
