...despite it reached 2.9 in-running. How was that possible? 2nd time this had happened to me, the last was in a big flat race.

you forgot to click the keep option !
Report impossible123 April 28, 2017 6:01 PM BST
Was that necessary even when I only laid it in-running?
Report telephone April 28, 2017 6:06 PM BST
if you layed in running then no, but if you have to click twice and you only clicked once, then that may be why !
Report TheNorfolkMafia April 28, 2017 6:11 PM BST
Already beaten!

Pictures well behind!

It's advisable to put in-running bets into the system before the race!
Report impossible123 April 28, 2017 6:22 PM BST
My bet was laid just after the off when he was about 8; I could see the odds fluctuating, then suddenly hit 5, then 4 and below 3 yet my bet was not matched. I do not know what I've done wrong unless there was a glitch in Betfair's system during in-running.

Horse withdrawn at the start, seem to recall that affects IR betting. Not sure but I'm sure someone does.

With respect, it's something that you have or haven't done or been aware of!

Entirely the OPPOSITE - actually.

'In-Running' (Prices) a completely SEPARATE Market - with NO Reduction Factor applied.
Report screech April 28, 2017 7:28 PM BST
Apologies for that.
Report onlooker April 28, 2017 7:47 PM BST
Don't apologise - definitely not needed. Happy

In fact - What was probably at the back of your mind is that there would have been an 8% Reduction Factor (Diakali - withdrawn at the start) to the 5.0 LAY bet - had it been a 'KEEP' Lay.

However - the OP has stated that ....

impossible123 28 Apr 17 18:22

My bet was laid just after the off -

So, his LAY would have been at the FULL 5.0 odds - as it was placed AFTER the OFF - directly into the SEPARATE 'In-Running' (Prices) market.

Thanks for all your answers. However, I'm still baffled as I play in-running fairly often. But thankfully, it was only a small bet and only the 2nd time it had happened. I think I'd just put it down to a computer glitch my end or Betfair.

For some reason this race was turned in play very early, well before they were off. Presumably a betfair error.  When it then took an age for them to actually start due to the withdrawn horse they had switched it back to not in play before putting it back in play again. I would guess that you put the lay on when they first turned it in play and then when they changed their minds as they realised it wasn't yet in play your bet was cancelled.

Thanks, that is very plausible. I'm no techie, but I knew something was incorrect when my lay bet was not executed despite its target price had been hit. As it was only a small bet to recoup outlay I shall put it down to factors outside my control. Thanks all for your replies.
Report longbridge May 2, 2017 10:15 AM BST
Take it up with BF - your bet placement should be recorded as should the fact you didn't cancel it, and the in-running low price is a matter of public record.
