Just logged onto my account and found the balance is Zero.Some shirt front apparently transferred 3k last night to sportsbook and placed a bet on some Football game Bet was struck at 11.31pm a time i was in bed fast asleep FFS.
Anyone else ever had something like this because BF not giving much away from 'Looking into it'
Apart from anything else when did Sportsbook accept a 3K bet all i could ever get on was thruppence when i have tried to have a bet.

Over the years i have found Jumping up and down like a banshee only causes more stress and does not get you any further along me ducky.
Like i said i had enough stress and hard times bringing up the kids and running a business etc and don't want to make my life any harder now, as might drop dead tomorrow.
I might get a bit pissed and in a shouting match with BF if they decide to bell me. But i think it will be just a email notification. If it is the wrong one then i will have to pursue other avenues to get the proper and just outcome, if there is any that is.

Out of all the 9 bookies that I use, PP is the one that I trust the least. There have been several incidents over the years where I suspect some shenanigans has being going on. For example, the other week I placed an each way Lucky 63 bet with them that, if all 6 horses had won, I would have seen a return of the maximum pay out from this company of £500,000. Just before I clicked ok for them to accept the bet, they were showing a sum of the maximum £500,000 return.
All legs of the bet were from UK racecourses (daytime and evening). As soon as I ok'd the bet, the sum quoted was suddenly reduced from £500,000 to £150,000 with no explanation. I suspect if questioned there is some rule hidden away somewhere about one or more of the racecourses not having a full service (whatever that means).
I'm sure that if I'd placed the same bet with someone like Bet247, they wouldn't have restricted the pay out like PP seemed to have done.

The main thing a company wants to avoid is bad publicity so giving your problem maximum expose in the media should be your next step if you don't get satisfaction.

Another option if BF don't do the right thing is using Resolver.co.uk.
They are recommended by Moneysavingexpert.com and help to resolve consumer complaints. They worked for me in getting money out of a Energy company after they initially said no.

Chalkie - I could put you in contact with a reporter if you want to go down that route. Getting maximum exposure will cost them a lot more than the 3k if you don't get the correct outcome directly.

chalkie I don't think you have much chance of betfair refunding you stolen 3 grand, although I am quite suprised Ashmal was refunded.
I had my account emptied of about Monkey , 3 years ago , funds were transferred to betfair poker and my account was left empty .
Betfair Investigations department acknowledged that I had never played poker and that my account was accessed from abroad less than an hour after I had logged out from the UK .
I stated that the only explanation could be was that a Betfair employee was responsible , they threatened me with legal action and blocked me on twitter .
I then received the following email:
Unfortunately, your account was compromised and the funds lost to legitimate players in the poker environment. Therefore, there are no funds to be returned to you.
Your account was closed as in these scenarios we close accounts to ensure no further access can be gained by the person/s that accessed the account illegitimately.

Betfair is like a Bank. If customers lose faith in its ability to look after their money they ain't got no business.
Your 1 chance could be that it was lost on Betfair Sportsbook , so no legitimate punters will be at any loss if they refund your money ?
Keep a track of correspondence eg email (do not rely solely on inbox messages), for future reference and legal recourse (if necessary), and only phone calls if access to recordings are available to you. Good luck.

hmmm they seem to imply that you inadvertently gave your details to a spoof site? You have your details saved, so wouldn't normally enter them. Can you think of any time in recent weeks that you have been asked to enter username/password.

I've said this several times. If the bet wins, the plan would be to move some of the winnings out of the account prob via the poker app. When the account owner logs on they find that there account has been messed about with, but they have made money. So will they report it? Prob not for fear of losing money.
Glad you rightfully got paid, but it was easy to blame another site and just pay you back. It still stinks to me due to the wager being on the Sportsbook and smacks of something wrong their end. They won't give you any more details as it will show them up (NAP).
As screaming from beneaththewaves has said, ask for a 3k bet on something when you fancy one and see what they will lay you - if they refuse you to peanuts you will KNOW it was something their end in this case imo.

Someone calling themselves Keyser Soze was a troll from about 5 years ago now. He was a right pain in the ****. S**t stirrer in the extreme. The loser used to reside in one of the newsgroups accessed from Microsoft Outlook Express - 24support.helpline to be precise.

This happened to me a few years ago. I was betting on the Huxley Stakes at Chester and was waiting for the payout to start reinvesting but nothing...in fact my balance dropped sharply...when I dug deeper my finds at been used to place several tennis bets.
It was impossible for anyone to believe me but after adding a post in the site feedback forum I got a random call from fpneobe claiming to be from Betfair who said he was going to look like into more...pretty odd call because I could tell he was in a private room on his own i.e. No background noise from the call centre.
Needless to say I never heard from him or anyone from Betfair again and never got my funds back.
My feeling is that it was either a rogue bot or a hacker but Betfair were pleased to just ignore me completely and not admit a failure on their side.

Glad for you chalkie but something about all this just seems so wrong. Betfair, if they suspected an outside 'third party' I'm pretty sure would never have made a 'goodwill gesture.' Big companies just don't do charitable acts like this. They also run scared of talk of Police and Reporters which have both been mooted on this thread. Bad publicity and loss of customer confidence is what terrifies the sh!t out of them but that leaves us with the question of what actually happened here?

the police dgaf about this sort of crime. They wouldn't bother doing any investigation at all.

I would still be asking them how someone got 3k on with their sportsbook, no way has someone hacked your username and password and placed that bet.

Swings and roundabouts as normal.
Virgin: In a way yes i suppose. Could have been like backing a loser in one race and winning it back in the next. Trouble was it was spread over 4-5 anxious days

Thank you for finally sorting this out, rightfully and justifiably I may add and rest assured I will from now on be using the 2 step security and other suggestions that I may have not used before.
I would like to point out that my anti spyware, firewall and virus protection runs 24 hours a day and updates and scans automatically as this is needed for my set up and as my business dictates. I can assure you my system was not infiltrated my end otherwise it would have shown and I did thoroughly check this as a matter of due diligence and there are far more important files that could have been accessed if it had.
What you need to be asking yourself, although I suspect you have done so already, is how the hell this bet was facilitated your end when I have never been able to place a bet on any Sportsbook event(when I have tried) for more than a few pence let alone £3K (and on such an obscure market as ‘American Soccer’)
You would have seen that I don’t use Sportsbook and if I was going to bet on anything like such an obscure market, it would have been on the exchange as there is better value and I also have a couple of Bookmakers accounts where I can get a decent bet on if I needed to. Also I very rarely bet on Football or other sports and if doing so it would normally involve UK teams or Local International teams.
I think even on the exchange I have only bet in 4-5 games in the last year or so and for a lot less than the monies involved here.
Once again thank you for putting this matter to rest and coming to an amicable solution.

Chalkie - if you have the app on your phone (or logon on phone I think it takes you to the same format), you should be able to just type an amount in the box and a message will come up with the max allowed without even trying to place the bet. I am allowed a whopping max £87 on a 10/11 shot on a premier league game!
Try it on a US football match in the same competition as the hacked bet. If you can get a monkey on the Norwegian Cup now, you may find that you are allowed the whole 3k on Major League Soccer.

Have you (and anyone else reading this) tried to see if your email address has ever been subject to a security breach on a hacked website. Easy to do. Just Google "haveibeenpwned" and then enter your email address on the site and it will check. I did mine some time back and it came up with one positive result - from a hack suffered by Paddy Power. @Ashmal - if Chalkie's been around since 2002, he won't be using his email address to login to BF, so your very good advice should be slightly modified to type his username into haveibeenpwned.

Surely nobody has any account with them though! I have had my email address for about 15 years and it generally is used on "proven" sites. The trouble is I think I could have got mine stole from PP or Racing Post, and it has probably been used for purchases etc on probably 100 different sites over the years.
It would be illegal in the UK btw, but the usa dgaf about personal information privacy.
Yeah they swiped anything they found in peoples e mail accounts and sold the info on.
I know I have had my email hacked before as it was sending spam out to everyone in my address book, but that only happened once until I reset everything and has been fine since (a good few years ago now).
Same here Magic. Emails sent to all my contacts ( in my name) telling them I was stranded abroad and needed £3k immediately to pay hotel bills and flights home! Only one friend offered me help by the way!! Called me first thankfully. Got it sorted, and changed everything . Check EVERY day to see if there is anything sinister on all my sites. Hackers should be executed, full stop.
I heard the economist tech podcast lastweek cover this new voice technology that can replicate anyones voice on hearing them speak....and its thought future malevolents will be using it to phone people imitating others and the suggestion was people leaving messages on peoples answer phones as other people.....its actually quite funny

Sorry been no updates but been to see Micky Flannagan in London today and only just got back.
Just sat down to see how Snowy Dawn got on in the first at Chelms.
Only downfall is the fact my bet didn't get laid at 13's as i had put up this morning.
Did tell you Wednesday morning i was into this and although the cheeky double didn't come off yesterday i was always going to back this today.
'As i am on a Hat Trick of winning doubles i will hopefully not put the mockers on the run by posting todays. i have had a Cheeky EW double on Djackadam and Poli Roi today and will be backing Snowy Dawn early doors in the first at Chelmsford tomorrow. Going to see Micky Flannagan down the smoke tomorrow so apart from the latter i will be having a day off so to speak'
To top a good day out and plenty of Alcoholic lubrication i also left a bet on Great Field to cover the bet on Snowy if got beat so all in all a **** off great day out and at home.

yes they closed my original account from 2002 ish as well and opened another and bang went my commission discount as well so currently back up to newbie 5% ****.
Emailed them yesterday asking them to reinstate my proper discount but don't think they have replied, will look in the morn when eyesight a bit better
