...you're on a losing streak?

Today I had four bets at Redcar, one won. £12 down on the day. It gets tedious so how to relight interest?

Did that with Houblon in the National! Still thought ten year old hardnuts could win it!

I would be delighted with a 25% strike rate.

Suggest laying instead of backing, the trick is to find the right donkeys either way

When it all goes bad for me I just walk away from it. A week, a month, a year whatever. I get so down on myself but eventually I see/hear/read something, I have a light-bulb moment and off I go again.

You're not alone colonelflay, good luck.

Just keep backing Ruby Walsh, Bryan Cooper and William Buick, it will be alright on the night.

You won't get rich backing ruby imo.

I'm struggling myself with this, If I could bet what the loser on the nod would be pre race I'd be fackin minted right now

I find those times the toughest when you're smashing the crossbar to peices

I was on Cape Hideaway today and even when it went clear and Arabian Oasis smashed through the last 2 I felt like I knew the outcome all the way up the straight

I once hit a losing streak of 127 races, then I won my next 5. It's just the way it goes and tends to even itself out to either a profit or loss, and over a few hundred races you should be able to see whether what you're doing is working or not.

Month of the year also has some importance, I tend to do well in March/April/May - then steady through the summer - woeful in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb. So I tend to ease off in those winter months.

20% strike rate at 5/1+ gives a profit, equally 10% at 10/1+ and 34% at 3/1+, so you have to expect long losing runs and the way to get through it is just to keep doing what you do, but know when it's time to ease off and when it's time to get stuck in.

Of course, if you don't keep a record of it then it's difficult to foresee it!
