Im not a regular poster aroud these parts but i would only say "What was the jockey/trainer/owners plan for this horse in this race today?..........and was the plan "achieved" ?

He's a young jockey making his way in the game after losing his claim. How would people like others judging their performance at their workplace? People on here shouldnt be too quick to judge.

Ineffectual little g1mp.  Unless of course the instructions/intention was/were to "ignore the plum draw, fall out of the datlls, make no effort to improve your place and don't start rifing until the final furlong".

Somerset Sam....................my performance at work is judged..........and should it NOT be satisfactory.......I would PUBLICLY be put on "stages"......at which point after stage 3........I receive a written warning then dismissal (subject to appeal). I have NO qualms with this and this is how I will be judged.
I dont think it harsh and furthermore..............would be MORE concerned should ANYONES perormance on a DAILY basis......go unjudged.

The Stewards noted that CHETAN, trained by Charlie Wallis, was declared a non-runner at Chelmsford on 30 March 2017 with a Vets Cert (Bruised Foot). The Veterinary Officer reported that a pre-race examination of the gelding deemed it fit to race.

Stewpots didn't see anything, and jockey didn't report anything

If my performance at my workplace cost others money I'd expect my ar5e to be kicked into shredded duck!

Id imagine his instructions were to sit out the back given there was a likely burn up; but that changed once Bertie Blu Boy missed the break and didnt try to force the pace. They only went an even pace and he got caught in a pocket against horses quickening away (Dream Farr doesn't look like a sprinter with much accelaration to me), he gave up when he had no hope of catching them.

My take on it, you'll see far worse in the evening meetings tonight.
Report Jimmy Moran March 31, 2017 5:26 PM BST
Not sure if the ride he gave it was bent or he is clueless. Fell out, happy to sit way out of his ground and made only a token effort when the race was over. Perhaps he has been watching to many replays of the Dubai world cup and thought I`ll give that a go seemed to work well

if the powers that be are dumb enough to except that explanation
they should all be sacked for incompetence simples
that was blatant corruption , should have given him a 6 month ban !
seams now days the punishment does not fit the crime , and despite being a multi
million pound industry , they fail miserably to police it with any credibility
punter, betfair and bookmaker alike can have no real confidence that certain horses are not
given a chance to perform to the best of their true ability , yes things happen in racing
horses get hampered , but this was as dire  as they come ! Cry

bigmart;i think you mean 'accept' not 'except'...if so i entirely agree;that ride should certainly be investigated. I intend emailing BHA to that effect.

Bigmart with the sheer effrontery to mention the word 'credibility'. The lying, bet-editing, aftertiming oaf wouldn't know the meaning of the word if it hit him in his fat face.

To be fair he's not telling any lies. Its time for all the armchair jockeys / pocket talkers to move on to todays 10p Lucky 15.

Report Dr Crippen April 1, 2017 12:17 PM BST
I wouldn't ban any jockey before asking the trainer of the horse involved what instructions he gave to the rider.

And whether he was satisfied with the ride.

If the trainer condemns the jockey then fair enough. If not that's another matter.

What is a jockey supposed to do when a trainer tells them not to win or to give the horse an easy time?
And how many times do we see horses flop only to win next time out?

Recent ones being Open Hearted Yesterday, beaten thirty lengths LTO.
Abrocadabra Sivola Taunton Thursday PU LTO.
Valhalla at the same meeting PU LTO.

Not that I'm complaining, I can see exactly why they do it and it makes perfect sense.

But to blame the jockey every time, simply shows ignorance of what trainers do in order to get the best out of their horses.
Report MJK April 1, 2017 12:23 PM BST
That's a total copout for jockeys to cheat. And if it makes perfect sense to you and are happy with cheating then that says a lot about you.

There's nothing going on now that hasn't been going on for as long as there has been horseracing.

They're horses not machines. You can't run them flat to the boards every time they race.

If people can't fathom out what's going on, then they should keep their stakes to a minimum and treat it as entertainment.
Because they're never going to understand the game, until they accept that extensive schooling in public is part of training.

That's up there with 'the game's not for you' arrogant type tripe people have thrown them by the enablers on here when a ride is questioned. Defrauding the public is what they're doing, up there with credit card fraud and the like. I guess that's ok as well? But to question these things apparantely means you dont understand the game so keep your mouth shut.
