It is dreadful - I think we all agree ....

Problem is the Racing Post is more or less a monopoly - others may argue for other sites but I do not know of one where I can input my own rating and my own comments plus all else that is on the RP site.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it - this new mess will have cost money so they will not ditch it.

Now you have a massive popup advertising a bookie that won't take a bet from you, the site is a mess and as soon as Cheltenham is over I am cancelling my subscription.

Why couldn't they ask what punters wanted or what they wanted changed/new etc??

The trouble is that the people who design these things all have the fastest connections and the fastest computers. The forget Joe Public might not have the same ...

Yep Racing Post based in Canary Wharf so they have the fast internet required for the city boys. Too many clicks, too many pop ups, slow, but a virtual monopoly as mentioned above.

They should offer a simpler paired down site for those who don't need to look at the landscape while they travel. If this means continued access to the old site then fine although the new info on gelding would be a useful addition.

Thats a good shortcut Pinot but if you scroll right to the very bottom of the new site there an option to click to return to the old site.

I have posted on this before and I am still really really fed up with this ridiculous "upgrade".  I have managed to get used to what is where but everything just takes so much longer.  I have managed to adapt my form study so that I can continue pretty much as before but I reckon I should be getting a price reduction rather than the inevitable looming price increase.  The RP really is a shocking example of a 'newspaper' continually at war with it's readers.

This is an appeal to the RP to keep access to the old site for those in the Members Club. It shouldn't be seen as pandering to Luddites rather acknowledging that those who spend a lot of time on the site need something 'liter' in terms of functionality but not content.

They should have a tab that gives you the option to say whether you're a winning punter or not. If you are, it should stop all these pointless bookmakers pop-ups as they won't take a bet above £1.36 anyway. Drives me nuts.

Aren't they paid advertising revenue on the hits the website gets?

Popups keep the advertisers happy, but will lead to fewer hits as serious punters abandon the site.
I can't see how advertising popups can be effective, all they do is to pee people off.

The RP and Racing in general is ran by the books, when a Racing paper won't print ANYTHING that is slightly controversial about the product, and fill it with lies and bookie adverts, it tells you all you need to know about what they think of punters in general. Get Cheltenham out the way and I won't be paying them a bean for THEIR product.

I'm far from being a techie but google Adblock - it might help with the pop ups.

The old form part of their website was good. The new one is diabolical. No doubt the idea coming from the tech team who somehow try to justify their wages etc.... Change for changes sake.

I will be cancelling my sub after this mess

Perhaps the idea is to make the website so un-user friendly that people will buy the paper instead?
