Just 31, wonder if he's going for the IR money? What's he going to do for the next 50 years?

Why not retire? He is not short of money and it is still a dangerous game.
Report layingisthewayforward December 2, 2016 7:51 PM GMT
Hes been racing hamilton since he was about 10 and deep down probably knows hamilton is better. He's a multi millionaire with a young family, why not retire when on top.

Thy were very close this year...so I doubt that, just my opinion

Still I suspect there has not been a good atmosphere between them this year.

I suspect he may be back in future

Well that is just bad luck, unless you are claiming his car was deliberately sabotaged by Mercedes, which I don't believe.

Laying, Hamilton drove very slowly to back Rosberg up to Vettel & Verstappen, he was told not to by Toto and ignored him. He will either get fined or fired.

Why does that DFC HFT think that anyone gives 2 fcuks what he thinks. He is a Bigoted cretin who needs a good kicking.

Facts, I probably know a lot more about F1 than you do. I watch all the practice sessions and qualifying as well as the races. Rosberg was a bit naughty in the Monaco qualifying, but what Hamilton did was dangerous. Anyone who follows F1 properly understands exactly what has happened

This was the only tactic available to him and anyone else in his position would have done the same.  He's not going to be fired for it ffs.
Report Ozymandius December 3, 2016 8:52 AM GMT
^ Correct.  Nor was it dangerous in any way.

He could have over done it by really backing them up or even instigating a collision in the hope that he would come out of it better...this would have  been crossing the line and unsportsmanlike.  What he did was merely tactical and good racing.
Report big aitch December 3, 2016 10:04 AM GMT
Rosberg was sh1tting himself, I like Lewis but what he did was dangerous (there could easily have been a collision), selfish and against his Teams (the people who pay him) orders.

He was lucky Rosberg doesn't think like Schumaker did, he would have run into him on purpose and put them both out the race.

I'm sure you do big aitch. But my post was aimed at ebulGeryHappy
Report Rob_The_Bantam December 3, 2016 10:10 AM GMT
Admittedly I only followed this with a passing interest, but my understanding was that his team had said they'd let the drivers race without interfering, as the Constructors Championship was already won.  If this is the case, why did they subsequently renege on this?

Anyway, hasn't Rosberg earned a fortune in his career, has a family and realises that it's a dangerous sport?  He's probably paid his mortgage off, so not like he needs the brass.  What's wrong with packing in while at the top and spending more than eight or nine weeks of the year at home with your children?
Report Ozymandius December 3, 2016 10:28 AM GMT
Running into Lewis deliberately would have been moronic, it could easily have backfired  if Lewis had survived the collision and Nico had to retire..
Report big aitch December 3, 2016 11:12 AM GMT
Oz, what Lewis did was pretty moronic.

Rob, Mercedes wanted the one-two, they don't want their drivers risking damage to their cars.

Facts, I'm sorry about that Blush

" Laying, Hamilton drove very slowly to back Rosberg up to Vettel & Verstappen, he was told not to by Toto and ignored him. He will either get fined or fired"

Can't fire now they as need him even more.. Is it a team sport or an individual one? I think that the public regard it as an individual one.
Difficult for them to get any top driver that Hamilton will get along with who would be content to always be second to him. Verstappen and Hamilton would be an even more explosive pairing.
How many drivers are actually available and not signed up to a contract for 2017?

I would have thought there is another aspect to this discussion, and that is that the prize money for winning is probably a lot more than coming second! So there are vested interests for individual drivers in coming first other than helping the team look good. I'm wondering if Hamilton is perhaps more interested in the prize money than the actual Championship position, or am I being a bit cynical here?
Report big aitch December 3, 2016 4:28 PM GMT
I think it is more the Kudos Moke, he has more money than he would spend in 10 lifetimes, bit like Roida.
Report invicta December 3, 2016 5:30 PM GMT
F1, probably the most boring sport ever to get so much air-tme, anyone of the top 10 drivers could have won in that car, it's all about the car, the drivers are just steering computers on wheels around a track.
