It's that time of day..

They can't all be into the sun.. surely
By:
How can the sun be in the way of the back straight AND the home straight ?!

wheres leicester the bahamas

Regardles of the result this is absolutely disgraceful.
By:
Only guess if that the ground could be too firm. Shows complete contempt for punters though, I'd be fuming if I had a bet.
By:
So every fence apart from water facing south???????????????????????
By:
If it is too firm to jump more than one fence have the decency to call the meeting off.
By:
can they not race the other way round
By:
No it's just ATR spouting drivel as usual.
By:
ATR misinformation. It is every fence in the back straight bar the water that is omitted. Which is bad enough.

They discussed this on the radio the other day.
Down to health and safety. Opinion was it never happens in France and happens about 4 times a year in Ireland. |
By:
got it wrong, the fences in the back bar the water.

Corrected themselves now.

Poddydog, and is a relatively modern phenomenon . Heard Peter Scu, say it never happened in any race he rode in.
By:
This is pathetic from a racing channel. Make sure you are correct before giving out vital info to punters.
By:
Its not even a water jump... no water anywhere near it, just looks a bit smaller than the others.

I think somebody did a study on this blight to the sport and found that Carlisle and Kelso are the worst for dolling off fences. If there was sun forecast on the day of the races, I simply wouldn't bother going to either. I think Carlisle also have issues with this thing called "false" ground. WALOS.

By:
Simple solution, start racing at 10am then home in time for a late lunch!

Course record 2.05

Uttoxeter actually hold the record, having staged a 2 mile race in which only the two hurdles in the back straight were jumped.
As an indication of the terminal stupidity of the people in charge, this quote from the Ffos Llas clerk after they'd had low sun issues is a classic: "We have commissioned a study from the architects who built the racecourse, but we have learnt there is no rhyme or reason to this. Other racecourses who have had similar studies have found the sun confounds their expectations." So the astronomers who produce detailed charts predicting the exact position and angle of the sun are just a bunch a guessers! |
By:
Carlisle? Really? Kelso definitely. Ffos Las got to be up there.
By:
At least Ffos Las have learnt not to hold evening meetings over jumps now?
By:
That's an improvement.
By:
Well they held a fair few evening jumps meetings this year.
