Sad news - RIP Neal. Was this sudden or not unexpected?

Knew him to say hello too; didn't he have a near fatal health scare quite a few years ago? I seem to recall him mentioning it and how it made him thank his lucky stars for every "extra" day he had.

He had a brain haemorrhage maybe 15-20 years ago.

Very sad news. Neal really knew his stuff.

cardiffc - I think Neal would be about 66 yrs old. He returned the SPs's for The Sporting Chronicle before moving to The Press Association. Ten years as PR for Victor Chandler was followed by his venture into bookmaking under his own Apollo Bookmakers. RIP Neal.

I saw a tweet saying Neal was 68. Is there any mention in today's Racing Post?
