gave that breeders cup a chance tonight and watched it what a lot of nonsense i believe some people watch and bet on that american racing good luck with it .
i will be surprised if anybody admitted they thought that was better than champions day or a monday at ludlow.
"World Championships," - they claim .... same as they have just had the, "WORLD Series BASEBALL."
- ans as for all the embarrassing Presidential Election shambles, that seems to have been going on forever.
You can shove everything American.

breeders cup should get rid of teh mares sprint......those horses would then run in the 6f sprint and the dirt mile...........the latter race really is not being supported............godolphin are total idiots not running frosted in that............he is a superstar miler and they keep stretching him and he gets beat every time over 10f.

Breeders Cup far better suited to the every day man and women for a day out, Hear their far to many stuck sods directing you to dress to certain stanard far more relaxed atmosphere.
It's all about what each person enjoy's though everyone is different!

Sorry foxy. Couldn't resist a joke at that time of night. Neither could you presumably in comparing it to Ludlow. As a matter of fact I had a very good meeting betting-wise at SA,but was undone by events in Chicago not California I haven't had a bet in a bookies since about 2004 but I do bet with on-course bookies if I go racing. Losing to them is part of the experience

sorry salmon i am becoming a miserable sod as i am getting older,i was on the wind up a bit although the breeders cup isnt really my cup of tea but have to admit i have watched many memorable races on the tv.i thought champions day this year really was a step up on any days flat racing i have ever seen, perhaps its because i know all the horses at ascot and know so few at the breeders cup that i consider it to be better.glad to hear you bet with the on course books there not all bad, enjoy the rest of your weekend and take care.
by the way the ludlow bit was not a wind up

There may be betting opportunities on the Breeding cup, but as an event it's complete rubbish compared to Ascot. Which drugged up horse will beat which other drugged up horse has very little interest for me. Add in the incredibly dull tracks on which American racing is run and you might as well be watching the cartoon stuff. Give me Ascot any day. Give me Cheltenham even more. In fact give me a day out at Ludlow or Fakenham before the Breeders Cup. The main reason it doesn't get more criticism is all the journalists on the gravy train looking for an expenses paid trip to the States.

there tv coverage is woeful as well asparagus last night it was almost unbearable one comment that really pi..ed me off was whilst they were stating a correct fact i think calling the arc a group 1 race ran in europe to be typically american,i would sooner listen to fitz and plunkett

I'm not one of those media personality obsessives that we seem to have on here, foxy. Only Chapman really irritates me otherwise I couldn't care less about them.

Love the Breeders Cup.Comes at a good time to round off the flat season. It's like the US Masters in reverse which comes at a good time to start off the season.

asparagus - has probably posted the most relevant and salient point on this thread - - regarding the division between Pro- and Anti-American racing between followers of horse racing.

looking back over highland reels career its easy to forget he was 2nd in a french derby ,what i did notice was no matter what we think be it breeders cup, royal ascot or champions day it will be a very long time before any of us see a deeper race than the one that took place at leopardstown on september 10th.

Asparagus, I'm not going to sit hear and defened the fact the druging of horses don't go on in racing anywhere, yes the problem is never addressed properly in america and a lot of people trying to get the lasix thrown out across the duck pond.
I think because american racing is so alien to most people they rarely will enjoy the Breeders Cup, be exactly the same for any major festival, as the saying goes it's Horses For Courses work just as well for us so called humans lol.
I've never found racing dull in america from just looking at, it from fan of horses every day i've watched racing their always an chance to see something historic happened each day, because the next superstar race horse can just come along in blink of an button.
The coverage their is much better when someone just an fan of seeing the horses if watching it on the breeders cup feed and know adverts is an massive bonus, to be able to see an horse go from pre parade all the way down to the start is very informative for an horseman point of view.
As one stated before in the thread everyone is different and what works for one person does'nt for another!
