Always knew he was some horse, but 44 wins in 26 starts according to the RP app news feature, blinking heck !! :)

RIP lad, never forget the 2005 champion chase, roared my head off for him !

What a horse he was. Looked highly unlikely when looking rather small and bedraggled early days. RIP old lad.

Sad  a brilliant horse, was a joy to watch him race

his 2nd Tingle Creek and 2nd Champion Chase are 2 of the my favourite ever races

Gutted. Moscow Flyer was a horse that got me interested in horse racing. Rooster Booster and Azertyuiop too.
Report sixtwosix October 21, 2016 4:50 PM BST
It was a terrific era in 2 mile chasing , with Azertyoiup and Well Chief.
Before that he was even tangling with the legend that was Istabraq over hurdles.
Wasn't it Rathgar Beau who eventually was the first horse to beat him in a chase when he completed ?

The best of his era .

I don't think  the best horses always win the Gold Cup , the hill has a drastic impact at the end , but the 2 mile champion is usually just that.
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y October 21, 2016 4:51 PM BST
yes Rathgar Beau beat him at Punchestown, Moscow made a howler at the last or 2nd last fence
Report Mr Eboue October 21, 2016 4:58 PM BST
One of the all time greats and probably my favourite horse (along with his former stablemate Spirit Leader)

Will never, ever forget his second Tingle Creek win. Three superstars going toe to toe but Moscow was just too good. For my money the best race of modern times.

Thanks Moscow.

What a horse very classy along with connections.  Form from first hurdle race Punchestown Oct1999 until Chase at Aintree Apr2005
/1118/13121F21/F111F11/1U111/U111U1/111111/

A brilliant chaser who could chuck in a really bad jump to unseat Barry Geraghty, the horse only actually fell twice over fences (and once over hurdles).

RIP

I can only imagine owning a horse like that, you would need nerves of steel!

Today at Cheltenham was the only time I have ever heard a racecourse announce the death of a horse that's how high he was regarded ,I was looking forward to seeing both Moscow flyer and hardy eustace at the Irish national stud in late November, wouldn't it have been fantastic to have seen him at his best race against sprinter sacre at his best.

Sleep tight

hard to believe its 12 years since the tingle creek in which he beat well chief + azertyuiop Shocked 1 of the best races of all time imo it still makes smile watching it

also he defied all manner of title regainer, age stats etc when he won the queen mother for a 2nd time

RIP moscow thanks for the memories
Report maleuk01. October 21, 2016 7:35 PM BST
Great horse, backed him every time over the fences, from memory he was always about 11/8 or 13/8.

When Cheltenham was at its best..the Champion Chase was always the height of the madness on the middle Wednesday

I was there when he went off a hugely punted 13/8 favourite to win his first QM CC

As they came to the frightening second last fence he was cantering with 2 outsiders on either side of him...but we all knew what he was like,
he could always surprise you

The three were clear and two of them came down but not him!!

He then turned the final bend  and came to the final fence in splendid isolation

I was in the stand and everyone stood up as he approached the final obstacle
As he jumped i held on to my wife's hand and held my breath.

He sailed it!.... and then it was just pandemonium Tongue Out

I remembered standing dinner for our group that night...one of the best days ever of my life bar none

God bless your twinkle toes Moscow ,you truly were some machine Love
