some jockeys retrain with the JETS scheme...suppose they know it's a short career and if you're not at the top of the tree then it's probably wise to see what else you can do
I wondered about Richie Killoran but i think he is an accountant or something similar now
sure Keith Mercer retrained and does something else now

Paddy Flood went out to Australia and rode a good few winners out there. He has returned to Ireland this year but doesn't seem to intend returning to the saddle. He was a very good rider before he left imo and rode a good winner @ Cheltenham for Tom Taaffe.

I wonder what you have to do to get MORE than a five year ban

He looked like a young Eric Idle (imo), and I thought he was alright as jockey but didn't seem to get many chances, Russ Kennemore!
Well if the jockey career didn't work out, I wonder if he considered a Monty Python tribute act!
Now who he could get to play the rest of the Monty Python team I'm not sure, though I reckon Willow would make a good John Cleese!

Some shocking omissions from the list of jump jockeys that went missing in action.
Choc Thornton - Used to be no finer rider of the hurdles track at Cheltenham Sam Thomas - Now a "highly successful" trainer Christian Williams - Desperately unlucky with injuries Robert Lucey-Butler - Eventually tired of riding bad horses for bad trainers Eamon Dehdashti - Why Gary Moore used him as a conditional for so many years will remain one of life's mysteries but did ride Verasi to win the Lanzarote in 2007 Paddy Merrigan - Cool as a cucumber when riding Souffleur Paul O'Neill - Used to ride Paul Beck's horses. The two were made for each other

Looking at Russ Kennemore's twitter page, one of the last tweets is of him pictured with Lumiere last year, so putting my deerstalker on and calling myself Sherlock, does he or did he work for MJ?!
Also looks like he might have put a bit of weight on!

WILSON RENWICK is attempting a dramatic career change, swapping horsepower for pedal power, as he announced his retirement from the saddle on Monday. Jump jockey Renwick has not ridden under rules since last suffering multiple injuries in a fall at Market Rasen in May 2015. Nerve damage sustained in his left arm has ultimately forced Renwick to call time on his career, and he told BBC Sport: "As well as the concussion, I broke a vertebra in my neck, my collarbone, my jawbone and a couple of ribs, and they've all healed. "But nerve damage in my left arm means some of the muscle has wasted away and I've lost power in it, which won't come back, so that's it." Reverse Pendleton However, there are no problems with Renwick's legs, and he is now going to try and succeed as an elite cyclist, competing in endurance events. Attached to the Italian team Parentini, Renwick is doing well in his new discipline. His switch in career path has obvious similarities to Olympian Victoria Pendleton, who succeeded in her goal of riding at last season's Cheltenham Festival. "I have no solid plans, but doing a Pendleton in reverse and becoming a professional cyclist is the dream," Renwick added. "Victoria did brilliantly getting to Cheltenham, and going some way to trying to emulate what she did would be quite something."
