the other day all sorts of dodgy popups and websites started appearing from it , your computer has been infected by a virus please click to protect etc

I got it too. The pop-up saying a threat. It is not on your computer--it is only a pop up on the website. it is on At the Races website as well.
I always go to taskmaster and stop my browser- then run CCleaner and also JRT and then come back on my browser. It is annoying more than anything sinister on your computer. |
