He ran in the November hcap as a 4,5 and 6yo in 1982/3/4. He was 3rd in the middle year. Jimmy Etherington trained him for the first 2 of those years, Mick Lambert the 3rd year. He was 2nd in the Supreme Novices (at 50/1, behind Browne's Gazette) as a 6yo, for Lambert. There's youtube footage of him running a close 2nd in that valuable 12f hcap at Newmarket, sponsored by Air New Zealand, to Jupiter Island in August '83. Johnny Seagrave rode him that day.

He was running in sellers as a 2yo. In the October, he was 2nd in one at Redcar, going off 7/4 fav, and came into it with form figs of 000113. The 2nd of those wins was in a selling nursery at Beverley, where he carried a 4 lbs penalty. Etherington was training him then too. He ran in the Ebor as a 4yo.
That's all from me.

As onlooker hasn't shown up, I found a bit more...
He also ran in the Ebor as a 5 and 6yo. He was 6th to Crazy as a 6yo. That might have been his best placing in the race.
He was by Ardoon out of Elegant Lady. Oddly, the site pedigreequery.com has no record of him, and shows no offspring by his dam, Elegant Lady (the one by Hula Bend). The neatest summary of his flat career stats (of note) I found was this one, from a page from a bloodstock sales listing of a filly descendant of Hula Bend...
KEELBY KAVALIER. 8 wins 1 m. to 13 f. and $70,437 Won Doncaster Swift Binocular H., York Walmgate H., York Micklegate H., Doncaster Go Racing in Yorkshire' Trainers' Trophy. 2nd Newmarket Air New Zealand H., Newmarket Fakenham H., Newmarket Park Padodcks H., Doncaster Jockeys' Association H. 3rd Doncaster William Hill November H., Newmarket Owens Group of New Zealand H., Epsom Northern Dancer H., Newmarket Fakenham H., York Micklegate H.
So it mentions 4 wins, 4 2nds, and 5 3rds. (The 'H' means handicap). They only mention what they consider significant placed finishes, so are obviously a bit subjective as to what they include/exclude, as he also finished 2nd in the Bogside Cup at Ayr, and that's not mentioned. (Perhaps Ayr was not considered a major course by whoever compiled the list).
Other bloodstock listings have him as having scored 11 wins, but I presume that includes 3 hurdle wins. He won his first 2 races over hurdles in his novice season before later running 2nd in the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham, (as mentioned above). The last references I can find for him from internet searches are for 2/1/1985 and 25/2/1985. I'm guessing those are his last ever runs. The former was probably his last ever win, and the latter was the Princess Royal hurdle at Doncaster, the feature race on the card that day. He carried top weight, and was forecast to go off fav, but didn't finish in the 3. I suspect that was the end of him. The card has him as being trained by Colin Tinkler that day. Mick Lambert gave up training some time around that year, so maybe that's why he no longer was training him. Lambert used to be head lad for Jimmy Fitzgerald, but as far as I can see, the latter never trained him. Paul Charlton appears to have been his regular jockey over hurdles.
9 days after running 2nd in the Supreme Novices, he ran in the 12f hcap at Doncaster on the first day of the flat season, going off 85/40 fav in a 16-runner race, ridden by Pat Eddery, but finished 4th. That was the 2nd race of the season. The first race was the Brocklesby, won by Provideo. Mick Lambert had won the Brocklesby the year before with Our Dynasty - also ridden by Pat Eddery.
Mick Lambert died in 2011, Johnny Seagrave in 2009, Colin Tinkler in 2015. I think Jimmy Etherington's still going.

Keelby Kavalier was one of my favourite horses. I also remember Crazy (Harwood, I think), Provideo (Brocklesby) and Browne's Gazette (Dickinson, whipped round at the start of the Champion Hurdle) like it was yesterday. But my 'fav' three in those days were Habibti, Soba, Boca Raton and Grey Desire, despite running loose down the track went off at 5/4 'fav' and finished 2nd.
How time flies!
