I understand that RDT are taking orders for new boards that are bigger than the AGT set down regulations for board maximum size.
what are your thoughts ?

my thoughts are thus:

William Carson has only ever had one ride for Jim Goldie yet today gets on two fancied ones of his - furthermore leap frogs all the Northern jocks as a Southern based one going to Redcar..

ENTERED     RACE     ENTERED FOR THE FOLLOWING RACES

06Sep16     2:50     Insurplus REDCAR (Overnight), Market Cross Jewellers Handicap (Div I)

Rules are rules adge.  The problem as ever is getting them enforced.

it will depend on which bookmakers have placed the orders.

Will be interesting to see if the AGT actually stand by their rules or just change them.  If they change them then what is next?

Will it mean we won't have to stand in front of some fat bastad for 5 mins while waiting for his board to scroll round at the bottom (to discover the general 33/1 is 25/1).

Or will we still have to stand there for 5 mins but the 25/1 will be written in a bigger font?

There will be another column showing e.w. prices. We are aware that most books will never use this facility but we are hoping that the odd ones that do will inject an atmosphere of hilarity for racegoers. Mischief

One of the main reasons for size restrictions is to give the bookmakers on the second and third rows a chance.  If we all start sticking up huge boards on the front row it will block out the bookmakers behind and restrict the customers view of the best odds available.  Not on IMO.

Some bookmakers already have huge signage sourounding all the board including either side so what's the difference ?

Over size board plus oversize signage then IanP.  Will they even be able to fit two joints next to each other with closing the gaps so much?  Doesn't seem very fair to me.

the bigger the board the smaller the price.

but seriously , these display boards are being churned out by the million [ made in china ] and cost well under £200 each so must be a profitable business for someone

Adge - is that correct "churned out by the millions", who else has need for these boards, wasnt the whole cost issue that there was no mass demand for them?

used for displaying all sorts of products throughout London and other major cities. it's only the computer software that converts it to bookmaker use.
and you can have ANY size made

are LCD better?
By:
adge
When: 06 Sep 16 19:22
the only main difference is that the one's we have are only clear to view from direct in front but the new one's are equally clear from a ninety degree angle.
the main difference wit LCD screens is colour..it turns the board into a television type screen where all colours and flashes can be shown

well if they can be sourced cheap and they are only slightly out of agt guidelines maybe its better to change the guidelines and save everyone a load of cash when purchasing?
By:

When: 06 Sep 16 22:14
as some have already taken liberties with side panels I tend to agree , dave , but it has to be enforced by AGT which they have done little to so far. at present the BRBA are unanimously against the present increased size being allowed.

Davey , although they can be sourced very cheaply in bulk , RDT are not known for their generosity in passing on savings to bookmakers

At Ripon last month one of the new B.R.M made a bookmaker take a sign down advertising betting away because it was stuck out of the side and was against the rules. The bookie was on the 4th line as well so the guidelines are there to be enforced I believe some of the more established B.R.M just want a quiet life as proved with pitch renting.Adge I hope our association try to force this to be nipped in the bud fast

The New board is currently being used  by Bookmakers in Ireland,
also Riponbet And Chesterbet use the same board.our competitors

Agt Rules :Maximum width of odds board including signage – 800mm
remove the word "signage" and the board is within the rules.

Surely on course bookmakers need a directive as to whether or not these new oversized display boards will be permitted or not!

Fancy buying one and then to be told, "Sorry you can't use that"!

Anyone know what the power consumption is like, I would not like to be carting yet more batteries around. Also whats it like in bright sun light.
By:

The board uses same battery that powers the current board in use from Rdt
the only problem I have been told is polarisation ,if someone is looking at the board with
polarised sunglasses.
This board does not freeze,
price on board displaying different from laptop as happens with the current board in use.
The connection is through A HDMI Cable.

I have been assured by RDT at Doncaster today that it is not correct to say that they have taking orders for these boards as I was led to believe.
they have received a number of enquiries but RDT recognise that as they are a small amount wider [ also a little shorter ] than what the regulations allow they are under current rules unable to sell them.

Rdt boards I assume?  No freezes on elite.  I'd guess its a software problem.
