Report jackdave August 9, 2016 8:01 PM BST
Probably right decision but seems unfair if you backed it
Report adamski August 9, 2016 8:05 PM BST
Correct decision, self inflicted. What stopped Baker chasing after them, he didn't lose that much ground and it was a 2 mile race.
Report the dealer August 9, 2016 8:06 PM BST
in fairness to him the horse was showing signs of distress
Report hulk23 August 9, 2016 8:07 PM BST
would probably have been closer up than he normally is ...
Report afcb1234 August 9, 2016 8:08 PM BST
No surprise there ! - W*nkers - should of been voided.
Report Swardean August 9, 2016 8:08 PM BST
Yes correct decision under current rules.   The self-inflicted is a little harsh as not deliberate and perhaps a defect with the stall design, that it can actually happen.

ANALYSIS

Ayr Of Elegance was deemed to have been a runner by the stewards, who found that she had anticipated the start and, in doing so, got her nose stuck in the grill of the stalls, preventing them from opening properly. George Baker felt the filly may have caused herself an injury and felt it prudent to pull her up

Enquiry Complete - Placings Unaltered.

The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into the start and the possible withdrawal of AYR OF ELEGANCE, ridden by George Baker and trained by Philip Hide. They interviewed the rider, the trainer and the Starters. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the start the Stewards found that the filly had anticipated the start and, in doing so, had got her nose stuck in the grill of the stalls preventing them from opening properly. Baker further added that he felt the filly may have caused herself an injury and felt it prudent to pull her up. They therefore deemed AYR OF ELEGANCE to have started.
