I surely can't be the only one who fails to see that as a good bet? Especially at that price?

Reading form is the only way you will ever make money over a sustained period in this game, fact

What a clown.

the second horse was in the race as insurance in case Carvaggio did'nt fire - The big Owners and yards like Ballydoyle use the entry system to Bully everybody else.

if you've got 2k to lose i think you're doing okay

I listened to plenty of pundits opinions on this race and didn't here anyone recommend this maiden to be second. Surely medicine jack ran flat or was sick is the explanation butt I'll be interested to know as I've done my money. 2k was my bank since Aintree, profit but still a lot of money to lose. I really did think it was a good thing. Going to take it quiet for a time and try and remember how I built that bank up!

By:
sorry but you shouldn't be staking that large a percentage of your bank on anything, even a 2/5 shot

A big lesson learnt masta, live an learn.

Maybe the ground didn't suit him, firm today, never raced on it before, in fact, his 2 best lines of form were on good to soft.
|
|
By:
Possibly, but was very well thought of by connections with no hint of ground trouble. In fact they genuinely thought they had a chance of beating the fav. I read everything, listened to as many comments and convinced myself today was the day to throw the bank on. I guess death and tax are the only 2 certainties! Happy punting all.

I very much doubt that, it didn't have any chance on form, nor was it well supported. The favourite will not be getting beat this year, that's almost certain, even if he steps up to 7f. |

Gut wrenching sickener mate. Feel for you. A costly error punting your entire bank. We`ve all made similar mistakes. Good luck in future.

Correct, I backed Minding at 4/11 thinking she only had to go to post (albeit not with a full bank). |
|
By:
I just thought I'd put my genuine moment of madness up for all, down but not out. New bank tomorrow just £200 and see how we go. Appreciate the genuine comments.

best of luck turn AOB's good things can usually be turned over by their 3rd string unless breeding rights come into it
|
|
By:
It was a very silly thing to do, don't do it again imo.
|
|
By:
O'Brien's second and third strings are as good, if not better, than all these ''horse of a lifetime'' yaks from smaller yards.
|
|
By:
Maybe so Dan, but yaks beat it on its last 3 maiden races!
|
|
By:
turncoat I admire your honesty in publicising your bet ;hopefully you'll learn from what you did and if so the monetary loss will not have been totally wasted. One piece of advice ...don't listen to any pundits.
|
|
By:
O'Briens second string was 5.6 ish for the place at BSP , I wouldn't be in the least bit suprised if some of the Ballydoyle faithful backed it for a place.
Back in the days of Istabraq while that horse was catching the majority of the attention, some of the stable lad's money was going in on Theatreworld for a place. |

The runner up was available @18/1 W/O in a place.
MJ ran a strange sort of race, looked sure to pick up the pacemaker, got a slight nudge and emptied almost immediately. He's clearly not run up to his best, for whatever reason. |

That's a ****g rotten bet to strike.
