Was a fab NH track, I watched a future Stayers Hurdle winner win its 1st race there, 4 years later I watched it break its back in a chase also at Haydock.

My fav horse after watching it win and went and watched it at the track whenever I could, was never going to scale the heights as a chaser. That was a long journey home that day.

A lot of people on here would suggest that the prices charged by racecourses in this country are great value. They are dreadful and totally over the top. They need to get a grip and start encouraging people to come racing. The ticket prices for Tatts and county enclosures are nothing short of a rip off. Haydock my local track and what a desperate place it has become. Led by an absolute donkey who should be fired on the spot and the gaff given to Norman Gundill. Then we might see some improvement. A Fridays night racing which is an utter embarrrassment. Nothing changes however and they will be glad to get the non racing folk in who will drink to their hearts content.

On Course Bookmakers should vote with their feet and not attend these music nights with poor cards and people not interested in the racing. But if some of them did that. then the books who did attend would get all the business that was there, hmmm, so the ones that were thinking of voting with their feet wouldn't be able cope with that so they'd better all go just in case. Oh, and then all the books that do attend can all pay Haydock £230 each to get in. Haydock love playing the on-course books. It's money for old rope.

by the way its not just tatts and county enclosures which are over the top haydock silver around £15 i get the feeling the man in charge either doesnt want the enclosure or doesnt want future race goers.

It does a little life lucky although at longchamp the terrace is built up all around, not sure if that's still the case as the bulldozers moved in 10 months ago.

On a plus note for haydock it's good to see they have got a Wednesday fixture in December back in the 80s and 90s they got the likes of wayward lad, silver buck and sunny bay running at midweek winter fixtures.

Haydock going the same way as Newcastle dismissing the importance of family days and pricing out the racing fan.
Sadly it's a reflection on today's society, 'everyones out to squeeze the last penny out of the working man / woman'.

The course is local to me, and I used to be an annual member for some years. These days I don't go at all. Ripping up the old NH course and replacing it with soft, portable fences and brush hurdles was a disgrace and the place has rapidly gone downhill. Admission prices are amongst the most expensive in the country, and in the summer it resembles an open air pub. In addition, Haydock is one of those courses that thinks its a good idea to employ that clown Thompson who wanders round the enclosures with a mic in his hand generally annoying everybody. There are much nicer courses to go to where the experience is far more enjoyable.

have you ever sent your views to jockey club racecourses ?
i know there is nothing they can do about the ripping up of the old national hunt course but your other concerns they may be able to do something about,i am a member at kempton national hunt and warwick both jcr and both very well run and a pleasure to be a member off, perhaps they dont yet realize how haydock is been run.

I gave up on Haydock when they destroyed the NH course, and have been once in the past 8 years. Even if they had left the NH course intact, I refuse to attend any meeting where Thompson is allowed to roam freely.
I find it much more enjoyable at the likes of Cartmel, Bangor, Hexham etc..

If they wanted to do anything useful they could turn the clock back 30 years to when it used to be a National Hunt track.
What was wrong with proper fences and hurdles providing an actual jumping test?

plenty wrong with that intheknow as i am sure you are aware,re kempton the two day christmas meeting where the 2nd day is now on a par with the opening day since the sponsors took over the politics seem to be putting the future of the 2nd day in danger of reverting back to an ordinary days racing that will be bad for national hunt racing.

I'm not quite following the relevance of Kempton Xmas meeting in relation to Hexham having a twilight meeting in September?
If you're coming to Hexham then you want to be there when the weather is bearable. Early season or late season seems the best choice for me and I'm a big fan of the Northern NH scene

nice of him to give us plenty of notice maxed ,i use to try and speak to him now all he does his tell his secretary he will call me back ,he never does nor does he reply to reasonable emails, how do these people get jobs with these companies in such high positions or is that a silly question.

Probably they've not sold enough tickets so close the Newton Stand, save on bar staff, cleaners, gatemen, security etc etc, - unlucky Newton Bookmakers but hey ho. Life's a bitch and all that.............

Just to give this some balance. I go to virtually every meeting. Midweek is great, good crowd plenty of room. Entrance price may be dear but nothing if you are betting £100 per race. Viewing is good and compared to other courses getting served is ok and toilets dont take too long. Extra portable toilets have been introduced for girls. The post race DJ nights have been good, most coach parties have left and really good friendly fun atmostphere.
Plus, it is the easiest course in Britain to score. I have never seen so many people wanting a 'sh1t' before the first race
I am young enough to enjoy the crack, the party and the girls Haddock throws up in big measures but also enjoy my horses.
