Fact - It was all part of the negotiations they are absolutely fine with it in fact they encourage it as long as none are seen within 100 yards of their own pitches for which a diagram was provided...
Report swift-tuttle June 26, 2016 12:49 PM BST
so there is an element in Tatts who cannot recognize value (because if they could, they would be betting with Factmachine all the time). And it is this element's money that everyone is after on the course.

DOES ANYONE KNOW TO WHAT EXTENT PUNTERS (VICTIMS) OF CHESTERBET ARE BEING ALLEGEDLY RIPPED OFF? MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IF YOU PLACE A BET WITH CHESTERBET LETS SAY £100 ON A HORSE THATS TRADING AT THE TIME WITH THE ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS AT 5/2 YOU WOULD GET 9/4 WITH CHESTERBET??? BUT WHAT HAPPENS IF THAT HORSE IS THEN PUNTED IN TO 6/4 IN THE RING(HAPPENS QUITE REGULAR AT CHESTER) SO THE SP WOULD BE 5/4 SO DO CHESTERBET THEN PAY 11/10 FOR A HORSE THAT HAS BEEN 5/2 WITH THE ONCOURSE BOOKMAKERS?????????? IF SO HOW ARE THEY ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS OUTRAGEOUS PRACTICE?????????

bookies use betfair , have always done so ;; why wouldnt they it enables no risk betting ,,, the world has changed and i know it adds to the colour and the spectacle  but then again so did punch and judy at the seaside ,,, the comparison isnt too different , its a pity but technology will move the world forward , they embrassed it even before the punters ,, with a mobile phone who needs a bookie i cant remember the last time i was in a betting shop , in the bookies bubble they assume punters are bothered bout margins on prices    dont tell anyone but in the past they did , but now they simpy dont get it ,,,

FACT

Chesterbet is SP minus 10%
Report factmachine July 11, 2016 1:07 PM BST
SO WITH CHESTERBET YOU CAN ONLY HAVE THE SP-10% YOU CANT TAKE A PRICE???????
Report wasnot July 11, 2016 1:08 PM BST
Dont think you can take a price with chesterbet.  they just declare their dividend at the end of SP -10%.
Report factmachine July 11, 2016 1:08 PM BST
IS THAT 100% CORRECT SAWYER?????

Quote from Richard Thomas in 2012 “If regular punters want value they can go to the ring bookmakers. If they want good, quick service, they should come to us.”

Absolutely amazing that none of you thought to test out Chesterbet with a small bet when it was first introduced, and that was quite a while ago.Meanwhile you have only learnt today how it works!!
Any ring bookmaker should have learnt what the competition was before coming onto the forum and whinging, only to find that it isn't a threat after all.

the biggest threat to racecourse bookmakers are themselves.

IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW CHESTERBET GET AROUND THE GAMBLING COMMISSIONS "KEEPING GAMBLING FAIR AND SAFE FOR ALL" MOTTO,CANT WAIT TO GET A TICKET OF THEM AT THE NEXT MEET,AND SEEING AS THE MAJORITY OF THE CROWD ARE NOW BEING CORRALLED INTO THE PADDOCK AREA ARE THE BETTING RING MANAGERS GOING TO INSIST ON CHESTERBET TAKING THEIR UMBRELLAS DOWN,AFTER ALL"THEY ARE OBSTRUCTING THE VIEWING PUBLIC"
Report wasnot July 12, 2016 11:27 AM BST
It is actually hard to see how Chesterbet can be fair and open unless their tickets and their signage explicitly state we pay SP less 10%.  I wonder what their tickets do actually say?
Report factmachine July 12, 2016 11:29 AM BST
ALL WILL BE REVEALED AFTER THE NEXT MEET!
Report foxy July 12, 2016 1:00 PM BST
i have been into corels today i noticed on there golf coupons for the open they have where to mark of your selection where to put your stake but no prices so the punter gets what he is given, how do the gambling commission stand for that when racecourse bookmakers need more signage/displays than leicester square ?
Report cooperman July 12, 2016 1:36 PM BST
The company that operates Chesterbet and Bangorbet states it's aim is to use profits from the betting operation to improve racecourse facilities. Can't say i've noticed.

Report wasnot July 12, 2016 2:31 PM BST
Maybe they are using the money to buy more Chesterbet outlets as they appear to be multiplying every meeting.
Report cooperman July 12, 2016 3:12 PM BST
That could be the case as the statement is so vague it could be anything they regard as an improvement.

What about the Tote Pitches that are also springing up all over racecourses back of the stand at the July Course last week, next to a music tent at Aintree in April of course they look very similar to bookmakers joints again.... you couldn't make it up really

AND WHAT PROTECTION DO OUR "FANTASTIC CONTRACTS" OFFER US? ITS NOW DOWN TO INDIVIDUAL OPERATORS TO ACT UNILATERALLY TO PROTECT THEIR OWN BUSINESSES!
Report Racecourse Regular July 12, 2016 3:52 PM BST
It would seem that way Fact unfortunately the Deal has been done and the racecourses are now doing as they like in terms of letting alternative operators pitch up where they like anywhere on racecourses... they must be absolutely piss..g themelves that such a deal was ever struck without the ability to re-visit

I noticed that a few times recently the commentator (usually Machin) has given out the Chesterbet prices as if it was a pool bet by saying things like "currently paying" and, in fact, did refer to it a pool a couple of times.

FREE MARKETS ARE GREAT IF THEY ARE FAIRLY REGULATED,THE TROUBLE IS THE GAMBLING COMMISSION WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO REGULATE SEEM TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO SOME OPERATORS PRACTICES,I WONDER HOW MANY(THINK 21) UNDER 18 TESTS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT ON CHESTERBET I WOULD HAZARD A GUESS AT ZERO,AND HOW CAN CHESTERBET FALL INTO THE CATEGORY OF THE GAMBLING COMMISSIONS"KEEPING GAMBLING FAIR AND SAFE FOR ALL" WHEN NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHEN THEY PLACE A BET WITH THEM WHAT THEIR RETURN WILL BE???
