Why are racehorses weight not declared before a race? Can a racecourse weigh horses before a race & publish this information or would that require legislative change? If you can have one piece of new technology or a Racing App what would it be?
Racecourses would need new kit to weigh racehorses. How would the weights be promulgated to punters? What use would it be if you knew them? It won't tell you if a horse is fit or not. They are not greyhounds. It would tell you one horse is bigger than another but you could probably tell that from looking at them.

Like boxers every racehorse has a fighting weight. -----------------
You make the mistake of assuming that they are all the SAME age - and have all been running for at least 3 seasons.

Wind ops & the non-declaration of these seams a common issue. What if they allowed breathing aids such as Nasal Strips maybe that would cut down the need for so many ops

Most horses are still growing so weight will not be as useful a tool as many hope, especially on the Flat. Look, I'd like to see weight reported but I'm not at all convinced it is worth the expense. Remember the clamour for sectional timing -- most of the enthusiasts faded away when it was introduced at a few tracks and they realised it was not the holy grail.
Interestingly, it has recently been announced that all Irish courses will have sectional timing.

TEPIN wins the Queen Anne without her usual NASAL STRIPS.
Just goes to show that half of these ideas are just superstitious FADS. ----------
