Why are racehorses weight not declared before a race?
Can a racecourse weigh horses before a race & publish this information or would that require legislative change?
If you can have one piece of new technology or a Racing App what would it be?

Racecourses would need new kit to weigh racehorses. How would the weights be promulgated to punters? What use would it be if you knew them? It won't tell you if a horse is fit or not. They are not greyhounds. It would tell you one horse is bigger than another but you could probably tell that from looking at them.

ramruna , if a horse was 50kg over its last winning weight , that is useful information

Like boxers every racehorse has a fighting weight.

We should also be told of the ones that have had wind operations.

Of more significance would be what they had for lunch.....a bucket of water & a big bran mash and they run like stuffed pigs...lol

You make the mistake of assuming that they are all the SAME age - and have all been running for at least 3 seasons.

Agree about wind ops and would like to know if just been gelded
Report Oldgit1 June 13, 2016 7:25 PM BST
There seems to be different types of wind operations. Some much more complicated and dangerous than others.

What about a whip sensor to measure how many times its used & the ferocity? Also if a horse accelerates or even decelerate for its use.

What's the issue ? Aren't you winning enough with the  information that is currently available ?
If not, I suggest you give the game up.

Wind ops & the non-declaration of these seams a common issue. What if they allowed breathing aids such as Nasal Strips maybe that would cut down the need for so many ops

They did Robbie Fowler a load of good - allowed him to get even more Charlie up his nose.

I saw a twitter that the runners were weighed before a big race in Japan i think it was,,, would be a handy tool im0

Most horses are still growing so weight will not be as useful a tool as many hope, especially on the Flat. Look, I'd like to see weight reported but I'm not at all convinced it is worth the expense. Remember the clamour for sectional timing -- most of the enthusiasts faded away when it was introduced at a few tracks and they realised it was not the holy grail.

Interestingly, it has recently been announced that all Irish courses will have sectional timing.

TEPIN wins the Queen Anne without her usual NASAL STRIPS. Grin

Just goes to show that half of these ideas are just superstitious FADS. ----------

- and if - ^ "...aids such as Nasal Strips maybe that would cut down the need for so many (wind) ops"  -

- is utter nonsense. Grin
