Horses weight & new technology

Robots riding....

Racecourses would need new kit to weigh racehorses. How would the weights be promulgated to punters? What use would it be if you knew them? It won't tell you if a horse is fit or not. They are not greyhounds. It would tell you one horse is bigger than another but you could probably tell that from looking at them.

They can do it in Chile but not here.

We should also be told of the ones that have had wind operations.

Of more significance would be what they had for lunch.....a bucket of water & a big bran mash and they run like stuffed pigs...lol

There seems to be different types of wind operations. Some much more complicated and dangerous than others.

What about a whip sensor to measure how many times its used & the ferocity? Also if a horse accelerates or even decelerate for its use.

What's the issue ? Aren't you winning enough with the  information that is currently available ?
If not, I suggest you give the game up.

Most horses are still growing so weight will not be as useful a tool as many hope, especially on the Flat. Look, I'd like to see weight reported but I'm not at all convinced it is worth the expense. Remember the clamour for sectional timing -- most of the enthusiasts faded away when it was introduced at a few tracks and they realised it was not the holy grail.

Interestingly, it has recently been announced that all Irish courses will have sectional timing.
