He recommends overhauling of ew betting. I have never bet ew due to poor value and jocks in certain types of races not exactly busting a gut to pick up pennies and a rise in the weights for a place. Is there anybody out there that agrees with my betting ground rule.

I hate all this trend for abbreviated letters - instead of words ... (ignorantly, and arrogantly) assuming that everybody knows what the writer, or speaker, instantly means.

In this instance - thanks goodness that I was mistaken when - at a first quick glance - I thought you had typed an 'I' - in-between the "RP".

For me personally, I'd like to see e/w betting banned completely because it distorts the win market where I play.

Selfishness aside, the time to bet e/w is probably not when you fancy an outsider but to protect your stake near the top of the market.

Of all the worthy betting issues these people continually fall silent on they choose one which has little benefit (compared to others) to shout from the rooftops of the RP. Mr Hoiles has gone down in my estimation

Have to disagree Ramruna & Rayman backing 3 or even 4 ew in big handicaps with 5 places is by far my most profitable and enjoyable bet(other than placepots) assuming you can get near to best price availablePlain

lol at this thread, to give a bit of support to rayman I knew exactly what he meant, RIP never crosseed my mind, in fact I had just finished reading RH column.

Can't see bookmakers changing something that is so obviously financially beneficial to them. It's a con but there you go that's par for the course with bookies.

Sadly for some rumours of my passing have proved exaggerated.

Olias the reason for choosing the topic today was because of the two short prices in feature races and hence was appropriate for this week.

One Nation your heartfelt tribute is particularly appreciated.

Will sit down on Monday and assess more fully. Get tomorrow out of the way first. Worth stressing how time for Guineas far more wind aided than any other race.

To return to Each Way betting, my view has long been that the EW bet is nothing more than an old fashioned bookmakers wager and should have been abolished years ago. It is totally inflexible and all it does is reduce the proper win odds.

If we're talking of acronyms then it would be remiss not to add FOYDSC which is of course copyright Roida.
