holywell......I know you like a lucky 15 but personally think its a mugs bet ....I am not knocking you but do you do placepots..........think its a better bet to win big money

The lucky 15's are a fun bet for me, triple the odds one winner is a bonus. I have had a number of 'four figure' returns over the years.
I also back and lay on the exchange. I only ever do placepots when I go racing. Good luck with your placepots today. |

cardifffc, don't agree with you on being a mug bet, for many years it's been a loss leader for bookmakers, most have stopped the treble odds 1 winner because they couldn't win on the bet.
yesterday had 3 lucky 15's each with a winner in each at odds of 12/1, 7/1,7/1, which returned a profit. [shame i didn't get the 3 together] not keen on the lucky 31 that xmoneyx does as 16 bets lost when 1 down. |

Ashleigh.............if the bookies have 10 or 15% on every race.....multiply by 11 bets...........surely better working out the bet.........doing singles on betfair.........would be easy to work each bet..........zero percentage

Give me a Lucky 15 over a placepot any day of the week. You can get five winners and an unplaced horse and you win fook all.
By:
you can also have no winners and have a 20k placepot........works both ways
By:
when I used to go to the betting 8 out of 10 people had their biggest win from a placepot and the other 2 had never done a placepot in their life
By:
apart from the guy with 3 short priced winners the others are not a good advert for a lucky 15
By:
Cardiffc , what about the mug who stuck 2 quid on all 7 winners on Tuesday , 203k back its reported , each to their own but its worth remembering if all punters had the game by the balls then bookies would be out of business and the pro,s couldn,t get a bet on anywhere . Some of us betting is a buz , stakes small and winning is the bonus part .
By:
Very true about it working both ways.
£20k placepots are a freak occurrence though. I don't agree with putting shorties in a lucky 15. |
By:
did he do a lucky 15???????????
By:
I presume he did.

By:
jon b..........you try to pick 4 winners.........you will probably land one in a couple of years..........good placepots occur all the time.......I almost only do irish placepots during the winter...........ive only done 2 this year...........1100 one...........I did 28.80.......had it for 40p..........and about 3 weeks I had a pot over 1700..........I had over 700 for 32 quid.......try pick 4 winners and get that much back.........I would have a beard down to my feet before I landed one
By:
You get less than 35/1 for your money, and less than 25/1 on the other. Any decent lucky 15 will piss all over that.
By:
picking 4 winners is a lot more difficult than picking places where you have multiple selections............ive done only 4 placepots this jump season...........2 before xmas..........lost half my stake.........almost all my stake on the other one........and the other 2...........I know what bet I prefer
By:
the day I had the 1700 pot I was a bit unlucky has I had the horse that was disq for carrying 13ibs less........that wasn't the unlucky part ........I had a choice between him and the promoted horse so it was a double whammy........missing places like that costs you fortunes in placepots
By:
When you're doing big perms it's pretty hard not to land the placepot, making a profit is a bit tougher.
I do them both as a fun bet,(the pro's on here will tell you that there's no such thing) but you can outlay the price of a few beers and have a chance to make life changing money. The odds are definitely against you on a lucky 15, but that just makes it even more appealing to me. |
By:
you are right...........I kind of work on the theory that the one big one will carry the pots that wont make you money......the first 2 ive done this season didn't make money but the 2 good ones means I can afford a few money backs or losing a few quid
By:
I don't mind failing or having your money back when its small .......that's going to happen..............I think you can have a good feel if a pot is going to be any good...........but sometimes ive been badly wrong
