Yorkhill outclassed that field, travelled like a monster, I'd take him over Altior for a CH contender personally.

I agree, I seldom bet short priced horses and that didn't encourage me to do it again although I am already on More Of That. Not sure it made the difference as the winner hacked up but Yanworth must have travelled at least 20 lengths further than Yorkhill.

Then left it too late anyway. 

Yanworth bounded away up the hill last time.  Did this time too and sprinted clear of everything else - just not given a chance today.

Same sort of ride he gave Simonsig when beaten by Bobs Worth, wanted to win on the bridle and look a clever prick. Awful stuff!

I think he assumed he had enough in hand to be able to give away a few lengths in keeping out of trouble and still win.

In response to Dan C - Yorkhill was idling in front, watch the replay and see how his ears are pricked most of the way up the straight.  If Yanworth had got to him he would have pulled out a bit more, I'm fairly sure.

Absolutely. Horse was going on again when the second got close. Ian Popham mustve had an interest in the winner. For a jockey in a big race like that to let the winner up his inside was awful. Top class winner.

Faugheen vs Annie Power vs Yorkhill CH 2017, unfortunately Mullins won't race his best vs his best as he wants Ruby on them all which is why Ruby was grinning when saying it's not going to happen RE Faugheen vs Annie Power.

Agreed. Best horse clearly won. Combination of better ground, stable not being in as good form and a strange ride suggest Yanworth is still a very good horse. Yorkhill just a bit better.

Best horse won irrespective of different jockey tactics,same old crap jockey to blame.

Yorkhill was the better result for me but I can't see how anyone can be at all confident the best horse on the day won. Yanworth gave away at least 10 lengths and quite possibly more. Yorkhill was clearly idling in front. It would have been one hell of a race with equal rides.

I backed Yanworth. He rode him exactly as he rode him the last day. I'd say it is the King stable form that accounts for his display as well as a very good winner.

How much money did he cost the owner and trainer? Never like him and now I like him even less.

Poor ride on the fav but on that ground the winner was by far the better horse.

You make a good point about how he rode him the last day. Problem being when you're racing against the best you can't ride a horse like he's running against inferior horses.

The most stupid thing BH did was take a pull b4 the third last just as the race was quickening up. Instantly he's realised he's dropped himself in behind horses going nowhere. Then he's suddenly scrubbing away coming to 3out about 8 wide. Ballss up the flight n the winners flow. Worst ride I've ever seen from bg

For the Dubai Carnival they have Trakus which can calculate how much further those on the outer have travelled than those on the inner, pity they don't have it at Cheltenham!

From my own calculations, I reckon Barry travelled about a furlong further than Ruby on the winner.

is BG gone at this game 4 horses with great chances campeador had the race but BG crashed out at the last first 2 attempts were brutal and not great in the last race. Getting very good horses think McManus may be looking for a new pilot

His horse in the 4:50 tomorrow really does sum up his Cheltenham so far, he's having a bloody nightmare.

I thought Nina should have showed more urgency earlier than she did. She was on the best horse imo.

My opinion of BG for the past 3 years has been that he still has the brain to be as good as ever (although on Yanworth it didn't look like it) but physically he is nowhere near. If a horse travels and jumps, he can still be very good, but if hard riding is required he has been going down for years.

Many years ago I wrote a letter to the RP on this very subject and within a few days James Willoughby (if memory serves well) produced a beautifully thought out response - made fascinating reading and illustrated to me just how easy it would be to lose a race by running wide. I believe the course that prompted my initial letter was Wolverhampton.
