Yet to beat a genuine 2 miler.
Had an interrupted season and won and egg and spoon race last time out. The Champion Hurdle was never the plan. All in all the most ludicrously priced horse in Cheltenham Festival history. She should be 5/1. |

By:
So you laying Eboue?
|
|
By:
So explain to me this, why is Ruby not riding Nicholas Canyon then?
|
|
By:
Probably very little between the two but he's ridden the mare more than Nichols Canyon.
She's obviously a decent animal but people backing her at 2/1 need sectioning in my opinion. |
|

It's a very soft champion hurdle this year (MY tent or yours 9/1 after over a thousand days off after injured) could well hack up but I've had a some on camping ground eachway, jumps very good apart from last time when ot was going too slow, back in trip will suit it massive just hope it don't dry too much.

Eboue are hope you didn't lay too much
this horse is different class, look at her last run at Cheltenham but for the last flight fall ripped the field to shreds |
|
By:
he dont do that roida, only asks others to
![]() |
|
By:
Of course but that was in a race where the opposition are 130-140 rated animals.
This isn't the best Champion hurdle by a long way but when did she last beat a proper 2 miler? |
|
By:
Bond I were on it and would of changed my life but all the mares race is just a handicap at best, look at tomorrows fav miles in front some wouldn't win if they stared tonight!

The Champion Hurdle is a specialist two mile contest: I ponder the question can a horse without a Grade 1 victory at this distance drop down in trip and beat the hard core two milers?....in the past few seasons, apart from an ordinary horse like Zarkander, Annie Power has not encountered a high class gelding over hurdles, all her runs since the 2014 Festival have been in mares only contests. Annie is now eight and the majority of mares do not train on, and few get quicker: only Dawn Run and Flakey Dove have won this race for the fairer sex in my lifetime and I am uneasy about the fact that her only run this season was in a non-event race at Punchestown. She would have won the mares’ hurdle here in 2015 but for that infamous last flight fall: none of her opponents in that race would get within an asses’ roar of contending in a Champion Hurdle. I would be concerned about her on many counts including her preparation: she will have to be a freak of nature to win this.
Interesting thoughts from Declan Phelan. |

She is a special horse though Eboue with plenty of speed add to that a 7 pound allowance and the fact Ruby picked her over Nicholas Cannon
That's enough for, i was expecting more like 6/4 not 13/5 ![]() |

The sensible bet for me regarding Annie is to place lay her at around 4/5.
There are plenty of questions here regarding her claims (some have been mentioned above and I don't have the time to write down them all myself) but the reality is she has no Grade 1 form at 2miles, she isn't bred for 2miles, she's not running against her own sex and her entry in this particular race was an afterthought after the injury to the fav. Now she could be a total freak (my assessment of her on the clock suggests she's nowhere close to being that - she's just a very good mare is all)...if she is the freak some on here believe and the press hype machine will try and lead the average man on the street to believe...she'll win so win laying her @ 5/2 isn't sensible imo. If she's what she's shown on her form and no better with the potential to run beneath even that @ this trip outside of her own sex - she won't finish top three, in fact will struggle to finish top 5. So place lay for me @ 4/5 the percentage call - good luck to all. |

that has got to be one of the worse 4/5 tips ive seen in a long time ^^^

Just passing time while watching the Leicester game roida...done all the work for tomorrow now.
If he thinks she's 1/3 a place I was gonna give him a gift and stick up 1.85 for a few quid as the market is weak and he can have my money directly before I get involved against her in the market properly tomorrow. I expect I'll be able to lay 1.7ish possibly given Min and Douvan beforehand potentially going in beforehand - anyway we'll see what happens. Lets hope Gruss don't go down tomorrow anyways...be lucky. |
|
By:
It would not shock me if she won but that is not really the correct statement to be making. The real question is what price is a fair price. The author of this thread seems to think that she should be shorter or maybe he thinks that the price is irrelevant because he thinks she will win !!. My feelings are that she is too short given her profile, I am surprised that she is less than 3/1

Yes possible place lay Annie, defo win lay.
Ain't run for a year can clout a hurdle and will have never ran this fast a pace. |

By:
agree with studiuos and a few others on here tomorrow the media hype machine will go into overdrive annie power will be front page headline in tommorows racing post ,matt chapman has been bigging it up all evening on atr moneytree has said she is a cert , punters will see all those 1s next to her name get caught up in the hysteria and steam into her ,I would expect her to shorten up quite a bit and be around 8/11 -4/6 a place nearer the race.good luck
|
|
By:
the problem is Annie Power is a top class exceptional mare..tomorrows field is average at best.
|
|
By:
Agree roida. If she's well positioned before the climb to the finish she will win as her stamina will tell.
Best hope for the boys is to go off at a blistering pace and either try to run the finish out of her, or force her into a mistake. No bet for me pre-race - will just sit back and enjoy the spectacle. |
