Is that really "the best" that Miss R Waterson has got??!?? "Inexperienced" first ride or experienced 5millionth ride, that was absolutely pathetic. And with Pendleton's embarrassing effort earlier, it's no wonder women get told to stay in the kitchen with nothing greater than menial chores to occupy them.

Race 6 - 5:05pm THE £10 FREE AT 32Red.com AMATEUR RIDERS' HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6)
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, PAO DE ACUCA (IRE), ridden by Will Pettis and trained by Jose Santos, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that the gelding had benefited from the removal of headgear and the step up in trip. Having heard his evidence they noted his explanation. They ordered PAO DE ACUCA (IRE) to be routine tested.

The Stewards then held an enquiry into the running and riding of BOSTON BLUE, ridden by Miss S A Coll and trained by Tony Carroll, which jumped out slowly and sat at the rear of the field, detached, before being asked for an effort entering the home straight to finish seventh, beaten 23½ lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received two reports from the Veterinary Officer who confirmed that both post-race examinations of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. The rider stated her instructions were to drop out and to make of the best of her way home from 2 furlongs out and, as the gelding was quirky, she had been told not to use her whip. She added that, due to the fast early pace, she was happy to be detached in last place as she felt the leaders would come back to her in time. The trainer stated these were his instructions and that he was satisfied with the ride given. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (B)59.4 and guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing. They suspended her for 12 days on dates to be notified by the British Horseracing Authority.

She'll have done plenty work on the gallops and on that horse for what it's worth.

There was no excuse for that ride

Report s.kenbo February 19, 2016 6:53 PM GMT
It was  a class 6, amateur riders handicap at Lingfield. I'd be embarrassed to say I had a bet in the race, never mind coming on here moaning about it afterwards. Typical "blind fave" backers imo.

Can you stick a few more places on "Clowns League", Roida.
Report jamesdean February 19, 2016 6:56 PM GMT
Do you need to have a bet on the race to have an opinion these days?
Report s.kenbo February 19, 2016 7:02 PM GMT
Not at all JD. There's a difference between voicing your unbiased opinion and moaning about losing money though.

I didn't watch the race myself, but I'm not at all shocked that a young girl had a bad ride on her first ever start.
Report sparrow February 19, 2016 7:03 PM GMT

Report tomhunt February 19, 2016 7:04 PM GMT

Frightened of losing her balance probably.
Report jamesdean February 19, 2016 7:17 PM GMT
True. She'll never have let go of the riens on the gallops before being the workout rider for the stable....
Report s.kenbo February 19, 2016 7:20 PM GMT
The first ride thing isn't nonsense imo. Doing something in a field on a day to day basis is totally different to going out on the track for the first time. You've got the TV cameras on you, the crowds around you, and to add to it all you're on a short priced fave that's expected to win.
Report Dr Crippen February 19, 2016 7:24 PM GMT
There's no guarantee she would have won if she had hit it a few times but it would have looked  better if she had.

Now we'll never know.

Looking at the performance of the jockey on the winner, if they'd have swopped places I think the result would have been the same.

She looked better than he did for most of the way.

As stated on another thread, this was a race for AMATEUR RIDERS that had ridden LESS THAN 10 winners.  So they're all pretty inexperienced and some of them badly so.  It might even be fair to say that the odd one or two were sh1tting themselves and hanging on for dear life.

Unfortunately there's another one coming up on Wednesday, also at Lingfield - the 5:00, so it might be an idea if some of you don't bet on it.  It's probably best if you don't watch either as it's not very good for your health by the sound of it.
