shouldn't pictures be faster using fibre optics compared to satellite

yep thought it was the other way round,confused now

Our 3rd party provider are experiencing problems delivering pictures via satellite at Plumpton today and therefore are providing us pictures over fibre. This unfortunately may add a few seconds of latency in pictures getting to us and you may see delays in the streams today.

We are working with them to see if we can, at some point, get pictures back over satellite which will improve latency.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.


Fibre is usually quicker. Chelmsford deliver their pictures by fibre too and that, when it works, can be over 5 seconds.
I don't think that is the real problem here

a little while ago on ruk they were doing work at musselburgh and had to send the feed through satellite they said this would delay the pictures so who is telling porky's

not had any problems on LV for months until this race .

plus I exhausted my allotted re-tries, so at least that functionality still works...

And what is that about cardiff - if you've paid for the bloody race you can click it a million times - not our fault the buffering is so bad you have to keep renewing the feed.

That's the really curious thing about this, you'd think they'd feel obligated to explain what actually is the problem.  It can't be a uniquely different problem each time, so it must be often the same one.  But not a single useful piece of info has ever emerged from BF on this.

They never answer a tweet directly. They just give you the usual guff about we have raised this with the 3rd Party suppliers. I want to know if there is some sort of plan to get it fixed permanently with someone taking responsibility for it.

I've shifted more of my betting to pre race, with varied success, as this doesn't show any signs of getting fixed.  Started to get really poor around August last year and stupidly I hoped it might get resolved over the jumps season in time for the Flat, but I'm no longer expecting this.
