THE early bird really did get the worm, a juicy £245,000 one, as a punter managed to go through the seven-race card at Wolverhampton on Wednesday.
A Southampton-based night owl initially placed a £10 win accumulator online at 10pm on Tuesday for his seven selections at the overnight prices but then decided he wanted to cover the place accumulator so added a £10 each-way seven-timer.
Taking the early prices nearly trebled his return as the last four winners went off much shorter for the William Hill online punter.
The motor mechanic, 34 and married with three children, wanted to remain anonymous but did reveal his method had been to look at names at the front of the betting.
He also had the Racing Post mobile results service to thank for revealing his big win as he was stuck at work as the winners started flowing.
It saved him a nervous wait before the last winner Ohsosecret was revealed the head winner in a photo finish.

"I was watching the results come in and after the first three had won, I started texting the wife. When the seventh had won, I was jumping around the place. It's the biggest high I have ever had."
Will billy's be closing his account anytime soon i wonder??? Probably NOT WHY? Cos his likely staking levels tells hes a recreational punter not after 'making' money! I've done it both ways and found out how to keep accounts and how to get them closed after just a couple of bets!

£150,000 for the £10 acca.
£75,000 for a £5ew acca. Have they added £20,000 for the sake of a story? Do you get 10% bonus on all acca's? Or did he perm his bets to varying stakes and the newspaper just simplified it for their readers? Having checked the results too there would've been a few chunkyish rule 4's. |

@s.kenbo - the story quoted by the OP and in the RP says £10 win acca and £10 ew acca, not £5 ew, so 300k before the R4s? Feels not impossible.

Read the story, they have got the maths right. £250k pay out, original return just over 300k R4's to the tune of 50k plus ouch Again, wonder if hes been allowed to keep his account  |

My missus had a tenner each way on Hunting Lion at Newmarket on the tote one year which won and paid 100/1 on the nanny, ridden by Craig Williams. When I asked her why did she pick that one out she said that when we were watching them in the parade ring Hunting Lion had "the happiest face" !

Of course he's allowed to keep his account? Yeah your probably right, mainly cos he's a proven 'recreational' punter! Even if he learned how to be savvy as you lot and me, he'd keep it now! I'm proof of this! Opening two accounts week apart played the correct races and bingo accounts Ltd yet I've taken thousands off b365 korals etc and all very much open, how, cos I play the odd normal bet for fun!

Many years ago I owned a demolition company during the boom building years in London City.
One of the favourite tricks with the casual labourers who would be ripping out the interiors of old buildings to ready them for new offices would be to stuff a wad of notes in a wall somewhere. One of the labourers would find said bundle and we would 'check' with the building owners (who, of course were in on the trick). They would say the labourer could keep the wedge and the rest would work doubly hard in the vain hope they may be as fortunate. |
