i see their advert in the racing post on a daily basis nearly.. saying they win crazy amounts for their clients..it seems too good to be true so just wondered if anybody has tried them or know anybody who did?
DJ go to the best tipping site only takes a minute to join you will see the difference between what ISIRIS makes at early prices and how much they are behind at SP is quite shocking

The fact that the RP are prepared to allow this mob to advertise with them is a disgrace. They advertise profits at prices that are simply not obtainable.see The ASA outcome above. The RP must know of The ASA findings, yet they are willing to hoodwink their readers into joining a tipping firm who achieve a loss of nearly 16k at SP. The RP really should hang it's head in shame

I think that it is time that a class action was taken against the alleged racing post for promoting such adverts and a similar case be taken out against the alleged tipster Birchy..
He has to be made up by the paper which in itself is illegal as no-one is that ugly and has a wife and children.

I was contacted by Mark Sullivan of the Racing Post yesterday after I tweeted about Isiris and their misleading adverts being published by the Racing Post.
This is the email I wrote in response to his request for more details of my issue:
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your email, I appreciate the opportunity to elaborate on the content of my tweet which was brought to your attention.
I'd like to explain where I'm coming from in questioning why the Racing Post allow misleading adverts from Isiris to be published.
For the past few years, I have spent the majority of my spare time helping people with betting disputes, as I am a passionate believer in fair gambling.
I have helped obtain in excess of £100,000 on behalf of punters from bookmakers who declined to pay up until I became involved, and since the story below was published two years ago I receive several emails every week:
I believe that everyone involved in the gambling industry has a duty to ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open manner, and vulnerable people should be protected from harm. Indeed, these are two of the Gambling Commission's stated objectives.
I am aware that Isiris Racing Services have offered a tipping service for over 20 years, and that they frequently advertise in the Racing Post.
I have only recently been made aware that Isiris have 7 rulings against them from the Advertising Standards Authority for unacceptable advertisements, most if not all of which were printed in the Racing Post, and two of these adverts were within the last 8 months.
The following is an extract from the ASA ruling against Isiris from June 2015:
We compared the information in the spreadsheet with the proofing documentation. There were a number of discrepancies between the information in the spreadsheet and the supporting proofing documentation. These included two bets for which the tipster proofing website's independent auditor had not received proofing documentation, instances in which the terms for each-way bets were not visible in the screenshot of the odds comparison website and therefore did not evidence the terms stated in the spreadsheet, and differences between the odds stated in the spreadsheet Isiris had sent to the proofers and those displayed in the accompanying screenshots. We were concerned by the number of discrepancies in the substantiation.
Given that the ASA have expressed concerns about discrepancies between proofing records and claims made by Isiris in their advertisements, what steps do the Racing Post take to verify that claims made in advertisements tally with your own record of proofed selections?
Would the Racing Post agree that it has some responsibility for ensuring its readers are not exploited by misleading / inaccurate advertisements published in your newspaper?
My own concern here is that I have had contact with numerous people who have subscribed to Isiris at various times, and not one of them has been able to place the advised bets to £100 per point, or indeed £25 per point in many cases, despite the fact that Isiris consistently quote this stake amount when making their claims about profits achieved by their members.
You will be aware that Isiris frequently advise each way bets in very uncompetitive non-handicap races with an odds-on favourite, precisely the type of bets which most, if not all bookmakers will heavily restrict or simply refuse to accept.
Much as I am not suggesting that the Racing Post, or indeed Isiris, can be held responsible for the trading decisions of bookmakers, I do firmly believe that your readers are being lured in by these advertisements with almost zero chance of achieving the stated profits.
I believe that the Racing Post owes a duty of care to its readers, and that these advertisements are encouraging people to part with a substantial sum of money only to discover that the claims made are in fact not achievable.
I appreciate, of course, that your readers are responsible for their own actions, and that you make no representations yourselves about the service, but would you be willing to consider whether steps could be taken to ensure that your readers are not being exploited by these advertisements?
It would be very easy for me to set up my own tipping service and advise bets similar to those advised by Isiris and claim extravagant profits. The fact that I know no bookmaker would actually accept these bets must surely have some relevance?
I am not asking the Racing Post to stop publishing adverts from tipsters, but I am seeking some reassurances about some of the claims made in them.
Readers of the Racing Post are told that tipsters proof their selections to you, and we have to trust that the claims made in adverts are accurate.
Claiming a strike rate of 90% on advised bets, when that total includes bets which made a loss ( placed at under 4/1, or indeed 5/4 on occasions, ) is something I personally would have hoped that the Racing Post might have questioned prior to publication.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Paul Fairhead

i actually have no axe to grind with tipsters...i just want their profits or losses to s.p in their adverts so we can all judge how good they are before paying them

if the racing post tries to wriggle out of this i suggest they are in cahoots with them in respect of getting a cut of said mug punters money as previously hinted at.. if this is the case then 2 things.. first i will be very depressed. and 2nd i will no longer buy a post every day. oh and a third thing i will write to asa and complain in strongest terms possible about the whole murky business.

shouldnt hold your breath,if the RP outs isiris then they have to do the same to thommo & all the other spivs, thats a sizeable chunk of advertising revenue.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to endorse how fantastic they are as surely if surviving for 20 years they must have hundreds of winning punters willing to defend them!!

its impossible gigolo because their claims are fantasy. even if their tips were so fantastic bookies simply wouldnt lay their bets lol.. and why aint all the racing post staff loaded because they get their tips hours before we do?.. so many questions..

What "authority" do they actually possess, since their previous findings have been so willfully ignored? The answer, presumably, is none.

yes bettinghelp im wondering about the asa.. mind you the racing post sort of hide behind their findings by not insisting on sp quotes.. as the asa just .. highly reccomend sp quotes. thats why i think the racing post must start acting for the punter instead of taking the cheap dollar.

I'm pretty sure that The RP take a cut of any profit generated from some tipping line calls, this is in exchange for discounted advertising rates.
The RP could easily bring in new rules to significantly clamp down on tipsters. All profit claims calculated to SP,all selections, winners and losers since the last advert have to be in the advert, stop the likes of Thompson just highlighting the odd winner and forgetting the numerous tipped up losers.
The likes of Thompson are right up there with Isiris when it comes to dubious claims, and that is putting it mildly

well trd the post are going to see if they can make that sp idea a rule.. my argument is the post should INSIST on sp figures or simply refuse to advertise the tipster. it all seems murky and vague if you ask me...

No advertising Higher price for the paper. Higher price less buyers. Less buyers No paper.
I used to be a member of ISIRIS for 2 years. Without going in to to much detail it was biggest gambling related mistake I ever made.
As for that tw@ Booth I hope he is in Pain every day for the rest of his cesspit of a life.

Nothing like as bad as in the days of the old Handicap Book when it had pages of 'Winning Tipsters' Four of us once clubbed together in the early 60's to get the selections for a month from one who advertised 'Winning Coups' for about fifty weeks a year. It was a total con. He sent a list of rated horses for each race for the principle meeting of the day for the week with instructions to back the top rated runner and the favourite in equal stakes and stop if it was a winning bet.... Coup successful. If losing on the first bet your stake was increased for the next and the next race until you had a winning bet then week over. The top rated ones early in the week were usually favourites but as the week went on they were bigger priced ones. He then said if after losses reached a certain amount to ignore his selection and have £500 on the favourite. ALL Selections proofed this paper.

A quick update - I've been told that the concerns I raised are being discussed at a senior level tomorrow before I receive a response.
It would appear that, if nothing else, the matter is being given some consideration.

in a roundabout way this could lead to the top class tipsters being better off. because when they advertise their profits at sp only .. no jiggery pokery.. then at least punters can subscribe with confidence. the racing post may lose a bit of revenue at first but for the right reason.

dj Dazzler. The name of the Guy escapes me at the moment but he advertised for years with full page ads. There was one who advertised winning dog tips all the time who offered a free trial double one week. The first was a losing favourite at Hackney on the Saturday afternoon. The other was running in a late race at White City so I went there. It was the outsider of the race and was the most moth eaten ungainly mutt you have ever seen. I did not back it and it was last. It did not stop the Guy from advertising but must have dented his image.

I don't have a problem with people offering an advisory service, as long as they are open and honest about their results.
What I do have a problem with is people being lured in by misleading advertisements, particularly when the ASA have expressed concerns of their own, and indeed ruled 7 times against the same people for doing precisely that.
As I stated in my letter to the Racing Post, I think they have to shoulder some of the responsibility to ensure that their readers are not exploited by such advertisements.

Thompson used to say if punters don't like his tipping line then they shouldn't ring it. This is how he tried to explain away his miserable tipping. If he had been forced into putting his his p/l to SP on his adverts, people would not have rung it. His losses were huge, but he merrily just kept taking the money. A vile creature who made a lot of money from giving punters rancid tips

Is there anyone with a brain or indeed anyone that thinks that the ..

That would be the ASA for the freaks that claim to have made a complaint...
The Paul Haigh that is on here is not the real one..
He is even worse and would have the Country flooded with migrants and has a chip on his shoulder because the racing post will not give him his job back..
Just a thought...

Remember my old man used to subscribe to a tipster who must have been located at ilsley or thereabouts he would invariably send him tips that were trained by major hern & ridden by mercer cant remember his name. From memory he got his fair share of winners especially 2 yo but probably not the greatest prices. One time his letter came & gave a mention to a hurdler running at a west country meet may have been newton abbott.Still remember it like it was yesterday, never seen a smile as big when he came home from the bookies, the horse was called mawnan smith & won a 5 runner race at 33/1.He must have had a good bet cos he gave me a score & we went on holiday for a fortnight that year, very unusual, happy days.

Actual racecourse tipsters have now disappeared from the scene. At one time there were a lot of them outside the courses some dressed as jockeys and going through the motions of riding. All knew a jockey or trainer who had given them the inside information. I once gave Peter Carl Mackay (Prince Monolulu)a shilling for one of his folded bits of paper... it lost. He must have taken a lot of money as he covered the country all the way up to Scotland.

The Racing Post are now looking at making certain changes regarding tipster advertisements, one of which means that Isiris in particular will no longer be allowed to claim a strike rate of 90%, as that figure included placed horses at 5/4.
Much as I welcome any steps which improve the current situation whereby many adverts are misleading, in my opinion, there's a lot more that could and should be done.
I am therefore continuing to correspond with them in the hope that further amendments will be made.

I have only just read this thread.I no longer read the RP and do not subscribe to tipsters so not an issue for myself but would say well done to those who are pursuing this and are not going to be fobbed off.
A little off topic but i have often sent e mails to Odds Checker concerning the mis leading and covert practice of some of the bookmakers they advertise tbf occasionally they have acted in a positive way to my complaint but if we as backers or customers do not bother to make our displeasure known then the problem continues.
Well done to those who do make the effort the more the better.

Hi saddo this was one of the things i complained about.Likewise tote/Fred recently changed BOG to day of race yet the green button still showed evening before.I feel that T&G hidden behind the green button is wrong how many new users realise that you have to pause the cursor over this to read the bog T&Gs and any recent changes.Note fred "for bets placed on line" How many have checked a price on OC but placed the bet by phone thinking they were on at bog when this is not always so.?
The more customers who contact them about these type of misleading practices then the better the chance of some changes being implemented.?
