@PaulCHaigh It simply clarifies that he was a far more valuable asset than you. We will miss him. We did not miss you.

@brucemillington I have nothing against Graham or Lee. Define 'we' in this context. Your and Alan's bookie-licking was the reason I resigned

@PaulCHaigh And what was the reason you subsequently begged to be able to work for us again?

Never met the man but do find Bruce Millington utterly repugnant, and his original response befits that read on him.

A quick glance at Paugh Haighs twitter feed actually brings a bit of sympathy for Bruce...

His views are objectionable to me and he should be subject to a visit from the Police.

Yes maybe, I hold no candle for Bruce Millington. A lot of people were expecting Paul Haigh to expose the wicked practices of the industry after he left the Racing Post "on principle," we thought. But it turns out he wasn't leading a crusade but begging for his job back, according to the twitter banter.

Don't do any social media, so can't read who's saying what ?.
but i've written to Bruce several times about Bookies and there rancid ways, hoping he will print it,I even had proof,
but he ran and hid....

Bruce is the original horses arse and if Alan in Dublin asked him to suck it he would say "for how long" but that Paul Haigh is something else..

Just for once - see him off Bruce ...

He's not cruel enough to post the application.

I don't particularly care "who they are", but I do care a lot about horse racing.

The sport still thankfully has a daily paper, which could easily have been lost in the early 90s. The Sporting Life in it's latter days was an apology of it's former self. Often consisting of no more than 16 pages.

At least the RP does print a lot off stuff which the reader can decide to ingest or not.

There again, I would not soil this thread with my opinion of Mr Millington.
Report tilted January 1, 2016 7:00 AM GMT
Paul lost his job because he was constantly upsetting advertisers (bookies).
The advertisers keep the paper going.
Bruce therefore had no alternative but to warn him not to do it, otherwise bookies might cease spending their money on ads.
Paul resigns as a consequence on principle but found there was no other way to be heard than through the pages of the Racing Post.
Paul asks for the chance to put his views across again and comeback freelancing.
He is told 'no we are fully staffed with writers now'.
Paul put his principles first but they don't pay the bills.
Report Diff-rent January 1, 2016 9:09 AM GMT
The two of them should grow up and Paul's has obviously had a few to many jars.
Report smartie3 January 1, 2016 9:40 AM GMT
Imo we no longer need a racing daily paper because of the internet. Newspapers are going. Never buy one nowadays even if Im going racing. I will study the form online the night before so when I get to the course I don't need to bother with that and can spend more time socialising, getting the best price etc.
Report The Knight January 1, 2016 9:43 AM GMT
Pity the RP can't get their online edition correct, then...!
Report smartie3 January 1, 2016 9:45 AM GMT
True! But I use something else because RP is too slow!
Report duncan idaho January 1, 2016 9:51 AM GMT
wow, internet affecting newspaper sales shock...who knew? nevertheless, plenty of people still prefer/require the printed copy.
Report smartie3 January 1, 2016 9:53 AM GMT
I see your point its just that these numbers are dwindling and things change!
Report The Knight January 1, 2016 9:54 AM GMT
The irony is how the printed edition for today is OK...

Be switching online usage elsewhere unless the RP sort this quick...

Newspapers can complain until they're blue in the face about this, but the truth is they never made lots of money via sales - sale price only just covers cost price. Newspapers have to find how to maximise their advertising revenue online,  or otherwise they'll just die.

The only alternative is to find (unique enough) content that people will pay for. In terms of RP, they have their USP and charge for premium membership areas.

So the "editor" of the racing post (small case intended) had no control of the content of his paper. He actually published the views of Paul Haigh and hated them.Paul Haigh then took the hump and resigned..

Feck me some-one grow a set of balls...
