Although this is not horse racing, I couldn't think of a more adventurous and well travelled group of people to consult than the forum.

I split up from my wife of 15 years this year and obviously this has been a big upheaval in my life.  The dust has now settled and I intent start a fresh in 2016.  I intend to spend a year doing thing for myself and hence I would to compose a bucket list of things to do (that I wouldn't or couldn't do with my partner).   I want to try and do 10 things.   I have set aside about £10k to do this.

Any suggestions that you think would fulfil me physically, spiritually or emotionally would be welcomed.    They don't all have to be expensive and far flung.

I expect the usual sort of comedy and wind up responses but I am serious and going to do these things a blog about them.

Dogging. It's a perfectly satisfactory way to meet new people and with the price of unleaded at an all-time low you've never had it so good.

ok,

i would do what makes you happy, whether that be a current hobby you take more seriously or to more of an extreme, so for example if you like fishing then go big game fishing in the indian ocean etc

if you like motorbikes, ride across the usa or around some exotic country

if you play poker / cards, go to vegas for a few weeks, casinos, find some card games, play at a level above your normal

if you like painting take a holiday / course with a top artist (or cooking then a chef)

try gliding, or learn to do something, i was in my early 30s when i tried sailing, got my skippers in just a few weeks on a sailing holiday, other things maybe scuba diving, a long world cruise, or cycle round europe on a push bike, or just sit on a beach for a month with a pile of books, the world is your lobster

one last idea, if you like sporting events then there are shed loads you could travel to

another idea for a small outlay (your budget won't do it alone) you could buy into a syndicate for a season or two / lease a racehorse and get a new social life, make new friends etc, see a local decent trainer they usually have something in the yard that you could join in with, for just a season go flat through the summer and get a sprinter, you'll get more racing

Cheers Elise, some good advice there,  Especially "super sizing" stuff I already like.   I have already done a decent amount of sporting events, but as you said there loads to go at.   Can throw more money at it if something really appeals.  Thanks again

Definitely take in some top quality jump racing at Auteuil - recommend the first weekend of November and you can probably get to some more tracks over there too and some sightseeing in Paris.
