I used MoneyGram a couple of years ago to send 500 to my brother it was about 25 to send to a location he picked shop, post office etc there was no problem with the pick up (Perth)

Transferwise is your best bet - on £100 they'll charge you a fee of about £1 and you'll get nigh on the wholesale market rate in Aussie dollars. Money goes straight into the recipient's bank account. Have used them before with no problems.
