I agree with the sentiments of the original poster. Musselburgh is primarily a track that caters for Flat horses running over jumps. The fact that someone like Ferguson is prepared to travel his horses gives you a bit of a clue. Should just stick to Flat racing.

I rather miss Happy Hibby.
He could depress me more than Leonard Cohen. |

musselburgh is the most improved racecourse in the uk Foxy - in what context? |

Increasing the minimum public entrance price from £15 to £20 seems to have gone unnoticed by you

No problems getting to Kelso but there was plenty of water on the road in places. Rivers were at a frighteningly high level, luckily Kelso is at a higher level or they might have sunk without trace
Musselburgh have gone down in my estimation due to that 33% hike in admission prices for the public (extra betting badge money for the books to pull up too). They've removed the bookmakers parking area which is now virtually an empty space on racedays. Refreshments, if you fancy a tea, then no change from a £2 coin for some hot water and a Netto teabag. Latte Sir? Then that will be £2.70. For obvious reasons make sure that your better half send you with a pack-up the next time you visit. I can see how you think there is a better feel about the place & the racing seems to be of a slightly better standard at some meetings there. But it's plain to see who is funding a lot of this Like a lot of other courses, they seem to be concentrating on key feature days in the summer. Ladies Day & Edinburgh Cup day now carry extortionate admission fees |
