7 days a long time for city break chav.  We did long weekend and was struggling for things to do.

That bored we went to the aquarium on the harbour.   At the end of thee visit you emerge out into a café.   I thought it was inappropriate they had fish on thee menu.

looking at the marriot saint de felieu 45 mins away

July! You'll be sweating like a fat lass. I only went to see the Gaudi stuff but you'll be queuing for all but the Park Guell at that time of year.

Just got back from a 4 night break, wonderful city

Not sure I would fancy 7 days in what is likely to be a very busy time of the year in blistering sunshine
Report pablo-fanque December 4, 2015 11:28 PM GMT
lovely place , 4 days or so is enough imo.

stay in the city rather than travel in .

you will also be closer to the beach if you fancy a swim

7 days in Barcelona is 5 too many. Once you've seen the sights, and there aren't that many, there's not much left.
Of course you'd have to do the Camp Nou visit, well worth the trip.
Saying that, it's a very nice place to visit, but beware the pickpockets, they're everywhere, especially Las Ramblas
and the underground, which by the way is excellent for getting around. Day tickets for unlimited travel is around 7 euros.

massive city chav busting with life aparently one of the pick pocketing capitals of the world train stations are the worst .

did 4 lovely nights there a couple of years back.

stayed in Hotel Rialto in the city just 100 yards from Las Ramblas.

the hotel was relatively inexpensive so wasn't boutique or anything, but I thought it was good value for what I paid.  I'd stay there again.

5 days is enough for any city in the world imo

Morning Chavvers, you know you can always rely on me to talk sense.

We go all the time but I also agree seven nights is probably too long in one go. I've stayed in the city centre but much prefer to stay at the 5 star Miramar which is only a ten minute walk from Las Ramblas, but is perched high up on Montjuic with fabulous views over both the city and the harbour. It has beautiful gardens and a sensational outdoor pool (has an inside one too). Ask for room 601 or 602 which are the penthouse suites (and no more expensive than the other rooms with decent views) and offer wonderful views.

My least favourite city in Europe. On the two occasions that I've been there the manyana attitude has really got to me -went into quiet bar gagging for a drink but barman continues his conversation with his mate for 5 mins before wandering over and then takes ages to pour two tiny glasses. Las Ramblas vastly overrated. I'd go to Munich instead.

If you order tickets online you will jump the queues.

Miramar is €270 per night which is a tad expensive - stay in the centre for €80 per night most places and spend the money saved on quality food and drink

Laugh  jm as it happens they would be my 2nd team i have nothing but admiration for the great club.
Report foxy December 5, 2015 9:46 AM GMT
on a lower level from united and bayern jm i watched salford and hartlepool last night great viewing 22 players honest and committed which made the ref have a good and easy game.

Depends what you like about a city. We found it very noisy and after a couple of nights went by train to Taragonna which is a great place to relax. Agree with the comments about July-Spain is best enjoyed in spring and autumn.

Haven;t been myself Chav. Sister has been living their for 3 years teaching.
Mind your wallet and do not put anything of worth down for a second on a night out, It will be stolen.
Other than that enjoy.

yeah, much better spending the other 5 back home in Swansea (or wherever you live the rest of the year)...imagine those poor souls that have to call this fine cultural capital home when basically it's only worth 48 hrs of your time  Crazy

We had the 3 foreigners rule then foxy, and I think we left out schmeichel.   Was up in the gods, kept in 90 mins after kickoff, got beat 4-0, they didn't serve alcohol in the stadium, and was hit by a police baton going back to city centre..... great trip.

Attendance that game.... 115,000 Shocked
Report foxy December 5, 2015 11:13 AM GMT
the foreigner rule was dead against us, i had heard about the 90 mins kept in that was not needed.

Some good eating to be had, I enjoyed Cal Pep's restaurant the most.

4 days long enough.
Report duncan idaho December 5, 2015 1:20 PM GMT
surprised you feel as strongly as that, Capt...i first went over 20 yrs ago and as recently as 3 yrs ago and while it's clearly become much more of a tourist destination in that time we still found some parks and some restaurants slightly off the beaten track to be quite quiet and the beach front walk not inconveniently busy...La Champagneria has always been rammed (which is part of its attraction!)
Report mactheknife December 5, 2015 1:27 PM GMT
Spent 2 weeks in Salou in October, went to Barcelona to watch the footy at the Nou Camp, bout an hours trip.
They say Salou goes really quiet into the close season but plenty of villas to hire for the week if you dont mind the commute.
