On a business trip in the 90's I stayed in the Hotel Intercontinental in Geneva. I remember the meeting with the boss to sign off my expenses. I'd paid £48 for a bottle of wine, he took some persuading that it was about the cheapest bottle available. At the same time there was a Middle East peace conference being held in the hotel, it obviously didn't make much progress.  |
