Wasn't High Estate his too ?

There  are colours that are quite common in decent quality American racing that look identical to his colours.

Delta - I canWink.    I have a feeling that these historic colours were sold at one of the BHA/Weatherby's silent auctions.  I 'll check. That being the case, bit surprised we havn't seen them out, although these are often bought as an investment or presents.

.....with White sleeves and the same Scarlet cap.   I used to like his brother's(?) colours, those pink and green stripes looked very smart, with matching checks for Mrs Stanhope.

Don't relatives sometimes inherit them and then might not have any more runners later on?

His colours, the black shirt and scarlet cap we see aboard the Mary Slack runners these days, were carried to Classic victories by the English Derby hero, Royal Palace, the St Leger ace, Light Calvary, and the serene heroine of the English 1000 Guineas, FairyFootsteps. To explain the Slack connection, Mary we all know, was born Oppenheimer, and we know that De Beers, the greatest of the world’s diamond mining businesses, was an amalgam many years ago between the family of Barnato and those of Cecil John Rhodes, headed up for four generations by male members of the Oppenheimerfamily.

is this correct?

Correct Ima.  In fact that is very common, and as long as you stump up the annual registration fee they can be kept until needed or passed on again

Delta - Good stuff, was not aware of this connection, but I though Mary Slack's colours were the same but with a scarlet star on the body.

I thought in the UK they were retired as a mark of respect.

Phipps family still use in the USA.

They had to have changed colours in UK think Posse, Quick As lightning.

Eont - only if they lapse and/or are not renewed.  The BHA appear to have gradually filed away a lot of lapsed AND historic colours only to bring them to auction as they see fit.  Important to remember that the BHA have absolutely NO morals at all, as regards being the safeguarding authority of historic colours.

Yeah cheers for that blackbarn, I had a feeling colours could also go back into circulation again when having no connection with previous owners but wasn't sure what the exact rules on that were.
