I use dto think it was to protect players against fallers but it actually makes no difference, you can't cancel the bet mid that 1 second.

1 second is great compared to other sports - there's plenty of football markets these days with 12 second delays!

That, Darlo, is a fact that I've said for years (about many sports) but soooo many seem completely unaware of it and think racing is a special case. No sport is live (no 'live' tv is live) so stop moaning and get yourself down to the track if it matters that much!

The 1 second delay actually helps those with live pics as it allows them more time to cancel bets before those watching delayed pics have a chance to take them.
Trying to cancel bets watching delayed pics with a 1 second delay is pretty pointless as track players have a bigger advantage, but a longer delay would be unworkable. I would like to see the delay completely removed to make things fairer. |

Exactly. And the same principle works across other sports, with the longer the delay protecting those with true pictures even more. |

i may be wrong, but is it not 1 second to place a bet in running but cancelling is instant? (no delay)

Or try cancelling mid countdown when the fast pic boys are already way ahead of you. 1 second less of a problem, football is a pain.

Historic accident I think - it used to be the case if you used the 'old' API that the only way to tell a horse race (or football match, or whatever) was in-play was that the bet delay wasn't zero.
