Seaside is at Newbury and did not like the look of first race so up I go to the top of the stands and purchase a pie sit down with a nice cup of tea open the paper and look at the first race again
I say to myself this Fav looks good I am going to back it seaside fly's down the stairs goes up to the rails bookie ( I am in the members) what price the fav 6/4 I have £50
Back up to the top of the stand and watch the race neck and neck two horses go at it up the straight my one wins by a neck walking down the stairs I am along side Gorden Richards I turn to him and say Geoff as in Geoff Lewis  is very strong in a finish don't you think Gorden answers in the affirmative and I go to draw £125 for you backed the fav yes that's right I had £50 @ 6/4
the winner was not the fav agggggggggggggg in my paper it was 6/4 5 bar I had rushed my bet and instead of calling the name of the horse I called 6/4 to £50 the fav the one I thought I had backed had won the race at 5/1
I did managed to talk to the great Gorden Richards and It did give me a story to tell so maybe it was not such a bad race for me after all.

Seaside went racing one day and this is what happened how stupid was I ?
seaside

seaside

I am at the races and I am watching the horses going around before they are going to be saddled.

I look to my right and see a person leaning on the rail who I recognize but I could not put a name to the face. You know how you do when you know someone but can not think where you know them from.

I was thinking I know how they talk I am sure I know them I will go and ask where I know them from so I walk over and I am now standing almost in front of them and just about to open my month when

I see in the corner of my eye this person looking on it then comes to me where I knew this person from I had seen her on postage stamps it was her Majesty the Queen.

Body swerve and away I go thinking how stupid am I.
It was a normal meeting at Ascot by the way.

You've got form old pal !

Onlooker,

good afternoon.

Showing my age, the boy's from The Emerald Isle referred to their carbon copies as ''dockets!''
