When are you going to realise that having a reporter in the betting ring is a complete waste of time. The betting ring is irrelevant at virtually every meeting as all they do is copy the exchanges. Nevison makes it even worse by basically making it up as he goes along. Please show more of the horses in the paddock and going to post and forget the totally outdated person in the betting ring idea.

Agreed! Some viewers won't give a toss about the betting, and those that do will be able to read the side of the screen.

Knot in wood, yes i agree. I'm a big fan of RUK overall but this idea drives me crazy. Either the bosses are extremely stupid or they are bowing to pressure from bookmakers to make the betting ring such a big feature.

Agreed. Nevo is not as good as Big Mac was. Nevo just a lazy baztard. At least Big Mac would give us some insight into what the books were trying to ´get´ or which ones they were taking big bets for. Nevo just repeats what we already know. Complete. waste. Of. Space.

I don't know if Nevo has fallen on hard times or not, but it would seem there is a 'good Samaritan' at RUK who's keen to help him out by recreating the 'Big Mac' role for him...Well either that or Nevo knows some dark secrets about someone imo!

wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, they've crept in more and more on RUK in the last few years

Wondersobright, Yes this is my feeling too. Amazing how many bookies reps can get on tv in one day.

Ralph Topping has just sent a message to RUK bosses - it says keep shafting punters any which way you can and we'll carry on paying you tens of thousands of pounds a year to 'power' your channel as one of your 'betting partners'...

It's not the man in the ring idea that's to blame, it's the man who's in the ring that's the problem.  Like him or loathe him, McCririk was a total pro who could fill 5 mins effortlessly if asked.  Nevison couldn't fill a glass with water.

I agree the Headmaster - the problem with Nevison is that he's so clearly making it up as he goes along.

Keano would call him 'a bluffer', imo...

Thank you, millhouse.  "McCririck" I should say, of course. Unfortunately we haven't had a decent alternative since the old boy got pensioned off.  Nevison is clearly a non-starter, Tarns has plenty in her head but it doesn't always come out the right way...and who else is there?  If Kinghorn hadn't got into fistycuffs he'd have been a contender but gawd knows where he is.

There's definitely an oppo here for a bright young buck imo

I personally still think the ring is irrelevant. McCririck may have done a good job up until a few years ago but things have changed and nobody could make the ring interesting now. Nevison is very poor though. No doubt about that.
