Seemed to be a trainer on the up a couple of years ago. Had a brief spell of year round success, said he didn't want to be known as just a summer jumps trainer and from that moment he's regressed to being a trainer of bad horses who only seem capable of winning modest races in the summer months.

Current 4% strike rate is on a par with another struggling trainer who once had "big time" aspirations - Donald McCain.

think you have answered your own question.

same as donald mccain-just too many horses, quantity over quality.

look at evan williams just down the road from vaughan, unexposed young horses with their futures in front of them who could become anything.

throw in top work riders maloney, wedge, ring and some good conditionals, who as vaughan training his horses.

While Evan Williams is not in the same sorry state as Tim Vaughan, he's been a serial under-achiever in recent years given the £millions that the William and Angela Rucker have invested in the yard.

Evan Williams must go to bed every night and pray that the Ruckers don't come to their senses anytime soon and follow the Rooneys and Wylies lead and move their expensive purchases into the care of better trainers.
