No matter how well you are going yourself, barring a few rare exceptions, as soon as you see your last rival's jockey start pushing away then that should be your signal to do likewise and put the race to bed.

excessive use of the whip on winner

The loser was moving about before the last but was still running for STD.
With the lack of response he got after he started riding, it wasn't simply a case of STD putting the race to bed before the winner got to him.

He obviously hadn't got as much in the tank as it appeared.
First time over fences as well, and the horse isn't straightforward.
If STD had clouted the last you'd have blamed him for that as well.

its amazing how many horses magically become straight forward for a big race or when the cash is down

He hung left when he was challenging in his last race.
And he was running about there coming to the last.

So what do you think?

That was to mincer.

Its also amazing how people come up with some sort of nonsense about certain horses to suit their own rubbish arguments.
Warriors Tale is certainly a million miles from being complicated, and does the things that good horses do and that is jumps like a stag, travels well, and is 100% genuine.

i don't think he was running about jock took it towards the rail, given where the winning post is in relation to the track he's given away ground.

He didnt run about today and when you said he hung, well Wilson Renwick was riding him then. Renwick wouldnt ride a rocking horse.

Maybe you could give me a loan of your glasses, they seem rather powerful. You can see things with them that nobody else can see.

I noticed there was no mentioned from anyone about how Johnson's horse jumped the last.

That'd be too simple Ima, As I often have said no horse ever lost because it wasn't good enough on the day.
Has to be jockey error for many punters.

Just watched the race again on the head on, the horse jumped the last in the middle of the fence, how anybody could think that he was going to run out, well that truly is amazing.

mincer you're always one step behind.

You didn't even notice the swerve before the last fence until I pointed it out.

might of been canny like some of us and on with skybet 2nd treated like a winner and horse gets an easy LOL,  TO be serious for the future thought the 2nd spent a lttle to much time in the air for my liking over the fences in the straight, with run under his belt maybe they,ll fire him into them in better races

As tomhunt said excessive use of the whip by Johnson  (2 day ban). The difference between winning and losing that race.
