But those going stick figures are the lowest (i.e. softest) ever reported, going back eight years. On this day a year ago, the chase course was given as 5.7 and the official going was soft. The race times supported that as all three chases took more than 30 seconds above standard.
So I'm wondering how 4.5 can translate to good to soft? Has Kirkland Tellwrong been transferred?

Surely an error regards the going stick readings? , those printed would suggest bottomless going on both courses.

Bizarrely, this mornings update now gives the going stick figure as 4.2 for both hurdles and chases. So since the start of the meeting, the hurdle course has dried out and the chase course has got softer!
According to Henry Higgins, the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, but it seems in Newbury it falls mainly on the chase course. |
