Here, I'll tell you how that finish went.
The winner had it in the bag but decided he had done enough after the last. Then when he was joined by Chase the Spud, the horse, the horse mind you decided to run on and grab the lead on the line. Skelton was simply the passenger. |

If Paddy Brennan had waited 3 seconds longer he would have won. He passed Skeltons horse too soon. Of course its always easier sitting here after the event.

The horse was doing nothing after the last for Skelton's urgings.
It was only when the winner saw the second pull alongside him that he picked up again. If they'd have been wider apart on the run in the second would have won. Or as Arklearkle states; if the second had left it just a shade longer to take the lead. |

I was rooting for Paddy Brennan, hoping he'd have another winner to devote to the people of Paris. Not to be sadly, but he will ride plenty more winners , and he can devote them to many worthy worthy recepients.
Paddy is such a genuine and sincere fellow, he really is a lovely guy , and every winner he has i scream them home as he really is" oneofthegoodguys" |
