I always wanted an electric train set for Christmas and had to wait until I could buy it myself which I am sorry to say I did when I was about 16 or 17 sad I know.
The other thing I wanted again which I never got was a 10 gear bike no body looked at those ten gear bikes with stars in there eyes more than me.
I had to give this kid who lived in the same block of flats comics just to get a go on his bike.

I got everything I wanted. What did your parents spend their money on ?
I wanted a 10 speed racer but got a Raleigh Wayfarer 3 speed sturmey archer..
Mine was a second hand train set but in good condition so sensible purchase really.
Did have a hornby train set one year I remember getting Stevensons Rocket that blew

I wanted (and got) the first four lane Scalextric set. About 1966 I think. No longer have it unfortunately; An identical mint and complete boxed one sold at a local toy auction for over £2k
Tormented my Mother to death to get me a Chopper Bike or a Johny Seven Gun.......I got a pair of Roller Skates instead.
when I was a nipper in the 60s there was a large toy and sports shop (nobles in Deptford south London )and they had a few Austin j40 pedal cars in various colours which were and still are works of art and very collectable now which were way out of my reach money wise in those days so never got one but was always in the shop sitting in the car wishing I could have one ,these cars go for around £1500 -£2000,nowadays .............if I come across one at a reasonable price I will buy the fecker !

I hitch a ride up to visit him when I was about 16 he had a big factory at the time what happen when I was returning back home to London was he gave me a lift back to the motor way in his car so I could hitch a ride back.
It's only in the last few years did I think to myself he could have taken me to the train station and got me a ticket.
I have no idea what happen to his money and I don't care.

Good for you m8, some folk just aint worth caring about. You are probably a better person for growing up without his influence.
