A test of stamina is the last thing that horse wants, imho...

First run of the season.... Left loads to work on and beat a very decent animal who was already race fit.
I'd say they will rightly be very happy with that as a pipe opener. |

Vautour wasn't impressive but crucially today he showed he can dig deep and go through the pain barrier and grind out a result. The owner said before the race he looked a bit fat and would come on a ton. I just cant see how people can fancy Cue Card to pick him up in the King George. Did Silviano Conti run to his best today???..... No where near it imo. Cue Card had his chance to win the King George a few years but couldn't sustain his run when worn down coming to the last by Silviano Conti. Paddy Brennan had the luxury of taking a pull against an under par Conti today. He wont have that luxury on Boxing Day. Was Don Cossack really that impressive in beating Rio Du Mee and Rocky Creek(who was having his first run of the season) in Down Royal the last day.??? It looked to me as if them pair were going up and down on the one spot from a fair way out. So yeah, Vautour was not as impressive as he can be today but he was still well on top at the line against a good race fit animal today in a strongly race affair over 2mile 6 with a fairly stiff uphill finish on easy ground. Unless it comes up bottomless on boxing day he'll do for me.
